I meant to dash this sketch off quickly and then got really wrapped up in how to get the face in shadow. Then by the time I finished the hair I was about at the end of my attention span–hence the loose approach to the clothing. I really appreciate your detailed feedback–thanks so much!

The vertical hatching really works on the folds of the dress. Great proportions, too!
