There’s clearly some missing steps that he’s not mentioning here, so it’s possible that he is truly a Zionist. But isn’t this position just a 1-state solution? I always thought that this was the best case for Israel:

1. Dismantle the current government
2. Prosecute those who committed war crimes and perpetuated the genocide
3. Palestinian refugees have right to return
4. New government is constructed in which all citizens have equal rights

I guess I don’t know what a realistic alternative is other than:

1. Two state solution (which has clearly just been a cudgel to steal more palestinian land)

2. Removing all non-Palestinians from the land and returning it to Palestinians (the logistics seem a little ugly to me)

I’m actually a little surprised that people are taking issue with his statement. It’s not a high bar, obviously, but it seems to me like a step above most US politicians. I don’t find this convincing. Have you asked the Waymo Taxi the same thing? I can check if I’ve run over a cat, and I’m naturally Inclined to care. I can’t say the same about a robot. Especially one that isn’t open source.

If they can avoid animals now (which they can, and do), they can improve that detection and/or logic for cats that have disappeared under the car and not reappeared. That’s not even an assumption, much less a “big” one.

I develop software for a living. It is a big assumption to think that this will be fixed with a software update. I don’t know why you act as if it’s a sure thing.

Yes I am biased against driverless cars. They are a new technology that is being tested without our consent, and they are dependent on corporations rather than humans being held accountable when things go wrong (something that we currently struggle with as a society). The fact that you think I should default to the contrary is strange to me.

No one argues self-driving cars are “needed.” The point is, they are a significant improvement over humans when developed correctly.

I’d rather gravitate towards a driverless society where we invest in public transit and infrastructure rather than further ingraining cars into our society and adopting private companies (who use us as unwitting beta testers) as the solution to our problems.

You’re correct that they are making these changes to Android and not AOSP. This means that an OS like Graphene or e/OS/ will still be able to use sideloaded apps and other appstores like F-Droid.

I think the reason everyone is freaking out about this, is that it hurts appstores like F-Droid. It has a chilling effect on apps that are released to alternative app stores and may cause those stores to fail over time, thus killing FOSS apps at the point of distribution.

That said, this is also over my head technically, so I would love if someone more knowledgable could weigh in.
