7·6 days agoAnd it also becomes a stupid topic for those languages were words like sausage is literally just a shape like in Swedish were it can be used for poop too lol
It sounds more like this law is supposed to stop the plans based industry. Like you said it is easier for the curious ppl (like kids) to test something that they understand and know how to cook. I thought we were fighting for the environment.

3·24 days agoGlad I could be of help! Knowing the basics about the terminal (cli) will help you a lot with your raspberrypi when you wish to fix/change/do things on the fly. I often use ssh to connect to mine to do stuff from my phone haha

3·24 days agoThis is true, but I think it is good to know the basics because sometimes is it easier just like it can be easier in Mac and windows.
I think it is good to know about the tools you have so you can do the best decisions for your use case.
But like you said the terminal is not a must (for most) so if you feel uncomfortable about it then the terminal is not a reason to not switch to Linux.

37·24 days agoDepends on what you feel lost about, if it is the basics in general then I would suggest you start of and read about the basics here https://labex.io/linuxjourney they write about the very basics in a very simple way. I think they did a good job, they start of with what Linux is, what distros are to commands from the most basics as how to navigate in the terminal to more advanced combinations. They also have vms where you can try out the commands if you haven’t switched yet.
If it is a cheat sheet as in commands then i would say it is better to make your own of the commands you care about but you can start of by using other ppls list like this one https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/linux-unix/linux-commands-cheat-sheet/ but it can be overwhelming for you so use the linuxjouney first. Also it is very important to learn how to look up how to use the arguments in the terminal with man or -h to make it faster and less painful to use.
If you are lost about programs then there are a lot of good GitHub pages that links to useful programs and cli tools, you just need to search for awesome Linux <what you want> list
Examples:
https://github.com/luong-komorebi/Awesome-Linux-Software You can use their web pages version too https://luong-komorebi.github.io/Awesome-Linux-Software/ https://githublists.com/lists/awesome-lists/awesome-bash
Here is one for distros https://github.com/kolioaris/awesome-linux-distros
Here is an example for customizing https://github.com/fosslife/awesome-ricing
When looking for programs is it very important that you know what distro you are on, what desktop environment (like kde, gnome, xfce) and what window composition you use (usually Wayland or x11, x11 is older and is more compatible).
So in short start of at https://labex.io/linuxjourney
Then look up distros here https://github.com/kolioaris/awesome-linux-distros
For new ppl do I think Ubuntu based is best because almost everything has a Ubuntu version, when you feel ready can you test out other distros. I haven’t tried bazzite, I started of many years ago on debian (a few random ones like arch and mint) and then pop os for many years and now cachyos, I liked my journey but that doesn’t mean it is correct for others.
I would suggest to have all of your data you care about on a separate disk or have automatic backup of it so you can break your os without care. And if you start customizing would I suggest setting up a GitHub repo and commit your changes everytime you like what you see so it is easy to go back if you regret something.
I hoped this helped on your journey, I didn’t want to overwhelm you so I hope I kept it simple enough :D

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•More for folks from walkable environments, my question is: would you walk an hour and 15 minutes to go to say, the library?
3·1 month agoI walk 1,5 km in 10-15 minutes (depends on if I am alone or not), so yes I would walk that. But I like walking, I can suggest walking as a way to hang out haha

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•If my first kiss was pre-transition and i am now a guy but i always had a guy brain, does that make my first kiss with a "straight" guy gay ?
1·2 months agoDepends on what kind of kiss it was, did you kiss because of romantic interest? If yes then yeah that was gay.
Would be funny if kissing someone who tricked you into being the opposite gender (you could even be blindfolded) made you gay haha
I did the same! It was not jeans but pants that is supposed to look like they are a bit more formal but are more comfortable. From the website did I just pick 3 different colors of the same size but they all fit so differently, and one pair had much thicker fabric, felt more like they went “close enough” and called it a day lol
I’m a size M guy, everything from head to toe is M. If M doesn’t fit, I will try S, but most of the time that is too small, so I just skip that fit or brand. Sometimes the size difference is so ridiculous it might as well be two different shirts. One time I tried a polo in M and it looked like an oversized 90s hip‑hop shirt on me so I tried the S and it was so tight it looked like swimwear lol.
Is there a song that is a lot like this one? Because when I played it did I go “ooh this one!” Then I saw it was uploaded this year, so now am I not so sure anymore if this is the song I thought it was haha
Thanks for posting it!

3·4 months agoThe wandering village
It is a nice little recourse management game. What makes it special is that you need to do it on the back of an ancient “animal”. If you befriend (it trusts your judgement ) or tame it can you tell it what to do like where to go (so you can pick a bio), sleep, eat, run, walk and so on. I went for the befriend route, hurting it by ripping out resources from it didn’t sit well with me (but I am very curious, because you do miss out on a lot). The story is pretty simple but it is nicely paced and I do like the lore. I actually didn’t really think the main quest would be anything special so I was happily surprised.
I am more amazed that he didn’t stop at 10 and think “damn this is tiresome isn’t there a one liner i could do?”. I want to know how far he went. His stubbornness is amazing but also scary. I haven’t seen this kind of code since back in school lol lol lol
I have thought about this because I don’t plan to have kids, and I might end up living alone in my later years. So, how long would it take for someone to find me after I have died?
Right now is it not about caring more for what is unusual. If my friends or family knew something was wrong, they would report it right away. This actually happened once with a friend. When I was very sick and didn’t answer her calls. She tried every number she could find. Eventually, she only found my sister’s phone number, who then contacted me to check if I was okay. My friend was extremely worried, she thought I was in the hospital or something.
I searched for the meaning and got a video clip instead of a musical about the word, still don’t know the meaning and I am fine with that, now I know how to sound precocious ;)
Sounds like a question I got from a classmate in grade school in the classroom after I said who I had played with (teacher asked us) “what is the color of the bus?”, I didn’t understand what he was talking about so I just looked at him confused, so I do not know the rest sadly. He got really embarrassed when the teacher answered “the color of your face” 😂

2·4 months agoI loved AC when it was ezio who was the main character and black Flag but I couldn’t play Unity. I am unsure why, I tried playing syndicate too but I got bored of it just as I got bored of unity…
But maybe I should try unity again and have a look at that mod.

3·4 months agoI just finished badend theater. I am unsure if I want to recommend it or not. It wasn’t hard, the story wasn’t deep. You finish it pretty fast, but it was still nice, especially if you like to chase achievements and puzzle solving. It has a fun core mechanic.
Now am I playing little nightmares 2, it is outside of my comfort zone to not be able to fight back (most of the time) and just run and hide.
My goal is to play games that actually ends, I play too many games that never ends haha

That seat tho! Never seen anything like it, is it comfortable? Almost looks like a custom mold of a butt haha
