Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there enough resources in the world to allow everyone (or at least the vast majority) to live comfortably and happily?
82·5 days agoAll of human history exists because we solved scarcity.
The past 12,000 years has been trying to convince the hoarding assholes to stop making life shitty for everyone else.
You shouldn’t just be mad, you should feel the injustice of it all in your ancestral bones.
Tor Norretranders agrees with you. You should read The User Illusion if you haven’t already.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which stages of life do you think is the best part?
1·7 days agoI’m in my late 30s now, and my body feels better than in my early 20s, as I had stopped working out during that time. Also ended up getting diagnosed for adhd in my mid 40s and just this year had vyvanse prescribed which has proved a huge help.
How old are you? What is this? I worry I am engaging with an AI here or something.
Correct, I did not watch the video because the first premise the video offered is untrue. I don’t mean to poo-poo you sharing Linux stuff, and if this video gets more people onto Linux, great.
But like I said, it is not for those of us who have been here for a very long time screaming about how important it is to control your OS if you want to own your computer.
Windows NEVER meant freedom.
Noped out right away.
Not the video for those of us who have been around for long enough to remember all the shit MS pulled trying to kill Linux off.

4·10 days agoThing is, I am starting to think this has been true for the entirety of recorded history. You know we solved scarcity when we started having time to write shit down.
All of our recorded story as a species is just us hurting each other until we figure that out. The moral arc of history is indeed long.
Hello. Thank you for typing this so that I didn’t.
The strip on the right leaves out a critical frame where the ensign trips on the bridge, which is mildly embarrassing. (Now-)Captain Gomez is the ensign in the strip on the left who spilled hot chocolate all over Picard.
Can I uh … can I see a TNG uniform in this style?

These people think YOU should be in a gas chamber. Fucking wild that these people think they’re better than everyone. Wild.
Amen. Control the corporations if you want to fix the world.
The rich will burn it all if they aren’t regulated.
