To be fair, this prize was for stuff in 2024. So, still probably Greta, but makes Trump look even dumber for thinking he somehow deserves it. He’s not even eligible during this term so far.

34·21 days agoI don’t think it’s technically the very first line in the book, but The Way of Kings’ “Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king.” still gives me chills.
I don’t think you can burn calories without oxygen intake directly proportional to the calorie loss, so it’s actually an excellent measure. Is oxygen not what allows us to catalyze the energy in the first place?
My phone notes app is chock full of 3 am genius thoughts that have been dictated sleepily to Siri.
Here, have this one for free:
Is a centaur a better horse archer than a good archer on a good horse?
The Man you’re fighting here is most likely decades of work by acting unions or their equivalent. I agree that I’d like to see the full unobstructed end scenes, but everybody involved in the production earned their place in those credits. It’s there for them, not us.
I don’t know if it’ll work for you, but I often can’t read for long periods anymore either. Audiobooks aren’t enough stimulation on their own, but if I find a combo that uses just enough of my brain, I can make it through quite a bit.
For me personally, I play Mario Kart on a muted TV often while listening to books.

52 Weeks of Cooking@lemmy.zip•Week 19- Tempering: Lemon curd tofu cheesecake
9·2 months agoYou might ( or might not I don’t know you) be surprised at how well silken tofu works in these sorts of applications. I’ve had some incredible alfredo-style pastas made with it instead of dairy, for instance. And I’m not veg/vegan, it’s just easy and good.

Who would benefit here, big Conch?
Maybe, but that should be due to removal of subsidies and banning of factory farms, not rampant inflation.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•“Never make a decision when you need to pee.”
12·3 months agoI’ve actually tried to live by the opposite. I wouldn’t buy a house with a full bladder, but I think it improves the quality of snap decision making.
A friend and I used to track our Overwatch ranked results based on how badly we needed to pee. It wasn’t very useful data, but it was funny.
I found the puzzles in the older Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games easier when high. Went from trying to make any sense of it to “ok set that one to six and move the knob over by three” and bam. Still don’t know why it worked, but my brain found a pattern.
I guess I’m one of them. I’ve never used LaTeX, but I don’t know how else I’d pronounce that.
Omelas is one of my favorite Le Guin stories.
Honestly if you don’t have a ton of other options, I don’t hate this. I always wanted to get several super thin flatscreens and set them up playing 24/7 nature livestreams from different sources. It would be like gazing out portals to different parts of nature.
Sure, being out in nature would be better, but it’s better than blank walls and parking lots.
My cat’s main redeeming feature is that I can slide my legs under her entirely to readjust positions and sometimes she doesn’t even look at me. Try to touch her, on the other hand, and it’s death.
My dog behaves like the cat in this meme.

My dog sometimes brings me one of his toys when I’m feeling down or sick. Though since I generally get more enjoyment out of watching him play with them, it might just be a long game.
My cat knocked a lamp onto me shortly after learning I couldn’t see with the VR headset on.
