News@lemmy.world•Nvidia becomes the first company worth $5 trillion, powered by the AI frenzy
82·4 days agoThe guy collecting empties in the highway culvert is also generating revenue, but that doesn’t mean his enterprise is worth 5 billion dollars.
Edit: I meant “trillion” but I’m so unused to actually typing that number out because it’s so absurdly large
cygnus@lemmy.catoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Stephen Miller is such a fascist bootlicking piece of shit, his threats to arrest his political opponents have managed to make a 60 year old billionaire look like this
1·6 days agoExactly, and an indictment of the aggressive cluelessness of American voters too. I prefer intelligent people making informed decisions, regardless of their net worth.

61·7 days agoWe need a president that comes from 50k or less a year and actually understands the reality of tens of millions of working poor.
Are there many people making 50k a year who understand the higher-order details about running a country, though?

News@lemmy.world•Trump Approves Disaster Relief—But Just for States That Voted for Him
6·9 days agoI’m not American but I see this as the only tenable way out of this mess. The percentage of brain rot is simply too high for the country to function as a unified federal state, and needs to go back to what you’ve described (which was basically the idea of the US at the outset, or also a bit like Brazil or the EU of today)

Strange - these seem like ideal qualifications for ICE…

Much like the reframing of “pro-life” as “anti-choice”, I think we should call Rebublicans “Profa”

23·10 days agoNo wonder the country is so fucked if you’re at the “we can’t judge, because who among us hasn’t had a Nazi tattoo at one point?” stage.

News@lemmy.world•Maine Senate candidate Platner says tattoo recognized as Nazi symbol has been covered
91·10 days agoThe Totenkopf has always been associated with the Nazis.
To be pedantic, it actually predates Nazis by quite a bit, it was in use during the Empire - but by modern’day standards it’s absolutely associated with nazis.

He had this tattoo for SEVENTEEN YEARS. How do you go that long without realizing it’s a totenkopf?

Not really, because Nvidia’s revenue is far less exorbitant than its market cap. I’m not sure why c/technology is suddenly a dumping ground for every random Medium blog, which is as trustworthy a news source as somebody’s Facebook feed.
The AI bubble will pop, but will likely be more like the doctom crash than the 2008 one. It isn’t as interconnected with the rest of the economy.
