what?
it’s a stupid idea, that the late 20th century copyrights that show the year in roman numerals are lesser because they have to write more characters, and the early 21st century copyrights are superior because they are brief and easy to read. Compare “Copyright 2005 - MMV” with “Copyright 1988 - MCMLXXXVIII”

l read once that it was written as roman numerals because it was harder to understand.
That allowed movie companies to release films at the time they wanted, while the shooting was done 2 to 3 years prior, and keeping the audience in the dark.

I assume since this is easy enough to read that some Romans wrote like this to communicate numbers on occasion but it was never official or never historically official.
I remember a debate if we should write MIM instead of MCMXCIX
