Let’s see, we got
spoiler
- Boom box Man
- PITT
- Notefield
- Childslave
- Gourd Gore
- 20Brick
- Beans on Toast
- Coffee
- Angry Oaks
Pretty sure that plank is just a red herring
You know you are getting old when you hear Beans on toast at the hardware store.
Wakeup call: Damn this grocery store radio station is LIT. ohh fuck, did my brain just do that?
This wasn’t headlined with wrong answers only.
Smashing pumpkins
Alice In Chains
Screaming trees
Radiohead
Soundgarden
9 in nails
Match box 20
Pearl Jam
Hole
I’m old AF I love Alice and chains and soundgarden
Fucking Perl Jam… I could not decipher peanut butter and drug sandwhich :)
Thanks
What jam bottle has a handle? But then after you know, it’s the lid on it’s side.
I was thinking beer and marmite, like is this some obscure Australian band I don’t know about?
I got 6 I think
Radiohead.
Alice in chains.
Smashing pumpkins.
Nine Inch Nails.
Matchbox 20.
Pearl jam.The other three are:
Hole (Courtney Love’s band) Screaming Trees Soundgarden
I thought hole might have been one, and screaming trees was totally just something random I said in my head.
Can’t believe I missed Soundgarden
I missed Screaming Trees, never heard of them, and didn’t think long enough about Pearl Jam.
I think hole is actually puddle of mudd, but either works i guess
It’s definitely hole
Yeah you’re probably right, I didn’t realize most of their famous work was post 2000
Huh… I’ve never heard of that band before. Did they have a famous song with heavy rotation on MTV back in the day? If not, I must have missed them.
Yeah but they were early 2000s not 90s.
They formed in 1992 and released their first album in 1997. Granted, not a lot of airplay on that, and they didn’t really get much notice until their second album in 2001. I could totally see them being included if someone was just googling “90s bands” though.
If you ever played rockband 1 their song “Celebrity Skin” was featured. That’s how I know of them
They had a couple: “Blurry” and “She Hates Me” come to mind
She hates me was the big one I remember, but apparently that was in 2001 so they’re right its probably hole
Blurry I think charted better
I thought soundgarden was a puddle of mud for some reason
Also Skibidi toilet.
Lol I thought Pearl jam was black eyed peas and I was a little confused about the theme
All 9

- Radiohead
- Alice in Chains
- Hole
- Soundgarden
- Screaming Trees
- Nine Inch Nails
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Pearl Jam
- Matchbox 20
Dang, I only got like 6 or 7 of these, even though I know all the bands.
Was thinking that they could have easily done counting crows too
Wait screaming trees is actually the name of a band?
It feels like there is a non zero chance that this graphic was made by a member of the Screaming Trees, because nobody k ows who that is, certainly not at the level of the other 8. Like, Stone Temple Pilots would be a good actual 9th. Maybe Garbage.
Screaming Trees were a big name in grunge (not part of tge big 5, but in the same scene) in the 90’s and have collaborated with several of the other bands in this image. Mark Lanegan (rip) has gone solo and done a bunch of stuff with Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, and Eddie Vedder since then.
He also sang some of Queens of the Stone Age’s best songs.
I don’t think I heard more than one song by Garbage until they did that Bond theme song.
I guess I was in a different music loop, I liked Garbage (the album) and Version 2.0. V2.0 in particular is one of my favorite albums from High School.
Guess so! I was mostly exposed to country and oldies at the time.
I think Josh Homme from Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age was in the band for a period of time.
Hell yeah 😆 i first heard them on the Singles soundtrack https://youtu.be/rWoG7jShUck
Huh well I cant say I remember them or the song but they certainly sound very 90s.
Am I the only one trying count hands and also wondering why “hands from the 90s”…
What’s on the table between the matchbox and the jar, and why does the jar have a handle?
It’s a jar with the lid leaning against it. The jar is full of jam, and a butter knife is spreading the jam on bread. The jam also has pearls in it.
Pearl Jam
Oh! I see it, thank you and the others replied, I see it now.
That’s the lid leaning up against it.
That’s a lid, not a handle, and it’s a butter knife spreading the substance in the jar on a piece of toast. I couldn’t tell what that was on the table either
Got all 9 I think…
Tap for spoiler
screaming trees
hole
radiohead
sound garden
alice in chains
smashing pumpkins
pearl jam
matchbox 20
nine inch nails
I could only recognize 5 so far
- alice in chains
- smashing pumpkins
- sound garden
- radio head
- puddle of mudd
I was born in the 2000’s but I grew up listening to 90’s music
edit:
HOW COULD I NOT RECOGNIZE PEARL JAM?!
It’s Hole, not Puddle of Mudd. But if you were born in the 2000s that would explain why!
Hole was a more famous 90s band, Puddle of Mudd didn’t have success until the album Come Clean, released in 2001.
I can get 7, no idea who wailing trees or nails in plank are.
nails in plank: Nine Inch Nails :D
Screaming Trees?
Aha!
No, Aha! is a different band.
🤦
edit:
HOW COULD I NOT RECOGNIZE PEARL JAM?!
… because that looked to me like a mug, not a jar with a lid next to it
Actually I thought those were beans on the bread, not pearls. I thought it was something British.
I had 5, but one different…
spoiler
I missed Sound garden, you missed nine inch nails and matchbox 20.
So I’ve got 6:
- Nine inch nails
- Alice in Chains
- Matchbox 20
- Radiohead
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Sound Garden
Unclear what the hole, the screaming trees, and the (jelly?) sandwich are, but I bet those are the other 3 I’m missing.
Maybe in the meantime you got the answers from the other comments, but appart from Pearl Jam, the other two you pretty much guessed them accidentally : Hole and Screaming Trees.
Americans call jelly jam, and i assume those are pearls.

Jam is made with smashed fruit. Jelly is made with strained juice, giving it a translucent appearance. Source: American
Even though I lived through the 90s and was into most of those bands, I have never even heard of Matchbox 20. So that was the only one I couldn’t guess.
My favorite 90’s band, screwboard 🥰
No dude that’s Bolt Beam. Real big in the inside scene - specifically this one pub in Gloucester which burned down in 2006 that only real indie fans know about. To bad they shut that place down after the tragic bean incident.
I mean the notes in the garden there could be the beat farmers but I don’t think they ever went main stream.
Oh, I thought the pearl jam was a jar full of jawbreakers at first. Pearl jam makes more sense with the bread.
