I am currently using an osprey 26+6 backpack. Not the most comfortable carry, but works for me. I can fit a weeks worth of clothes without expanding. Like the clamshell opening.

In the past, I have used an Ogio Metro backpack. Similar capacity, or even more. Lots of pockets and organization. No clamshell opening, so I typically used an Eagle Creek garment folder to easily slid the bundle of clothes in and out.

    Goruck gr1 21L https://www.goruck.com/products/gr1-usa

It’s small, it’s compact, it’s very sturdy. I lived out of this bag for a year traveling the world. It has a laptop sleeve that is very sturdy. I cannot recommend this bag enough

It’s gotten dirty, beaten up, sun dried, and just works. Plus it’s very quiet, no metal on metal jingling

All of this… Fits into this

    And looks like this

IKEA Världens. 650g 26 litres. Sooooo inexpensive.

I have a previous version which is clamshell but didn’t have removable bag (has interior pockets). Mine also doesn’t have tote handles (can live with this) or external bottle holder (which is a minus). I just got back from a 2 week summer trip, including laptop and some bulky running gear.

Being really light is good if you have to be careful with cabin baggage allowance. It means it’s not as robust as some, but there’s a no questions asked guarantee.

This fucking bag is a damn champ. I have done weekend packing enough for a family of 3. 2-3 weeks in Europe solo. Several extended car trips. And over 100 airplane overhead stores. Still looks almost new. Just wish it had a water bottle holder, probably only improvement I would make

I am currently living out of my Tom Bihn Techonaut 45. It carries my 17" laptop and everything else I need and I’m pretty sure it will outlast me. That said, I’ve heard that the company was recently sold, so I have no idea if the quality is still there.
