I do not own a blu ray drive with the ability to burn discs. I am trying to accomplish the 12.02 exploit on ps4 without having to buy one. However I would also like to be able to burn new discs for exploit updates if necessary, so buying just a burned disc isn’t an option.
My ps3 is already on custom firmware, I was wondering if I were to install linux would that allow me to use the drive to burn discs? Is the drive only capable of reading discs? If so I guess it’s a bullet I hsve to bite.
I’m afraid the PS3 lacks the required laser to burn blu-rays. Linux running under otheros or an exploit is only able to use the Blu-ray drive to read disks.
Damn, guess I gotta find a cheap blu ray drive thst can write then.
Being able to write to a disk requires special lasers. No device designed for consumption only will have a burner capabilities but just have them limited by software.
USB BD drives can be pretty cheap these days, and they double as DVD drives so it’s well worth it to pick one up.
The PS3 does not have a Blu-Ray burning laser.
Don’t ask me how I know this.
