I mean its a known fact that its trained on reddit right? The made a 60 million dollar deal with google for exactly that.
This is also why 2022 will be the last year we mostly had the ability to sort believable information from hallucinated hot garbage on the internet. I’m predicting future AI will tease out that most people don’t trust posts to not be polluted with AI after 2022 that AI will start writing results claiming they were written prior to 2022.
A lot of people are claiming that we’re well on our way to dead internet theory coming true, but I think the reality will be less interesting. A lot of people will unplug when the toxicity and misinformation and disinformation become the overwhelming norm, but even more people will remain. The smartest of us will barely have any online presence, and only for basic stuff that there’s just no alternative for.
Social media will be drained of decency as the decent people cut it out of their lives. The internet will get worse and worse, but it won’t become all bots. The bots will control the narrative for most people since most people will still be there consuming whatever slop plops into their algorithmic feeds.
Instead of government censorship, we’ll see the populace’s thought and behavior manipulated by corporate manipulation. Whoever has enough money can buy/make a popular platform, buy/make bots to produce posts for consumer humans to internalize, and buy/make an algorithm that promotes their preferred narrative and buries anything else.
Meta, Alphabet, Twitter, etc are competing for propaganda monopoly. It’s meaningless without humans to influence. For now, we still have the ability to vote and can make some choices about what we buy. They will squeeze harder and harder to get every last drop of money and power. It’s impossible to achieve infinite exponential growth in a world with limited resources, so they’re finding ways to make up valuation numbers to pretend that they’re achieving impossible numbers, and it will all work out fine for them so long as they’re not the ones left holding the bag when the bubbles pop. Nvidia is selling shovels in a gold rush that they fabricated, and it’s really gonna hurt all of us when our economy’s load-bearing bubble pops and it all comes crashing down.
Maybe it’s naive to think that enough people are smart enough to see through this at some point, but I’m not naive enough to think that it will take less than another year or two. The fascism hinges on our ignorance.
The good news of this is I think it will improve human connections in time. The internet will be dead, people may branch out to real people again, build real things, go to real concerts with real humans etc.
For me its always been about the human and the real. Let the bots battle it out.
Same reason I don’t like absolute perfect metal music anymore. A robot can make that no problem. I prefer more human sounding music most of the time (and yes robots can do that too, but still). Almost all music i listen to is before 2014 anyway except for a very few select bands I follow.
Those of us who kept our encyclopedias and books will be the future Keepers of The True Knowlege.
I’ve been waiting for this.
Yep. It’s why I (hopefully) deleted all my content when I left.
All that likely achieved is its only in the Google AI training data and no longer available to the general public 😅
Understandable but it’s mildly annoying when looking up an issue and the only result is a post where the answer is deleted, so I have to ask a chatbot instead, and inevitably end up trying a few hallucinated answers before it gives me the real solution 😅
