    Also, what are they pretending is the good of not boycotting Israel? That Israel will be too scared to genocide people even harder than its recent approach? But then, what if it does and then gets boycotted, then isn’t it again true that “everyone hates them,” etc? Would the desired result not be that it pulls back? But if boycotting them could make them pull back, then why not do it now, when they are still genocidal? And if you can only threaten to boycott and never actually do it, then you can’t threaten to boycott at all because it’s an empty threat.

      Yup, it’s just sophistry. The entire position is “I don’t care about this and I want to keep doing harmful shit without thinking about that harm” and any other logic espoused is done entirely as a dishonest attempt to get people to stop talking about it. It reminds me of what carnists do any time you dig into the inherent contradiction between exploiting animals and being what any of us would consider a good person. They make arguments not with the intent to communicate a coherent/logical position, but with the intent to shut down criticism of their actions so that they don’t have to think about and attempt to reconcile irreconcilable differences between their beliefs and their actions.
