And I provided articles documenting the coup in detail. You ignored all that showing that you’re not willing to engage in good faith here.

Russia poisoned Sergei Skripal in 2018 yet failed to kill him.

I’m not sure how linking to wikipedia makes the claim any less absurd. Why would Russia send him to Germany if they wanted to kill him, do explain.

The government was elected in 2019, right? And a new election cannot be held because Ukraine’s constitution says that it is not legal to hold elections while Ukraine is under martial law, right?

What years is this? Evidently according to your galaxy brain logic, a dictatorship simply has to declare martial to stay in power indefinitely.

I want the Ukrainian people to be able to do what they want, within international law. You want the Ukrainian people to be murdered and subjugated by the Kremlin.

No you don’t, you want them to die under a dictatorship in a pointless war that Ukraine cannot win. You want people of LPR and DPR to be subjugated by the fascists backed by the west who have been committing atrocities against them since 2008.

Why are you on Lemmy.ml when all your talking points are those of a far-right supporter of fascists in Ukraine?

Sounds like you might want to go back to reddit where you can spew your fascist propaganda unchallenged.

I don’t know why you’re posting pictures of far-right people in Ukraine. There are far-right people in essentially every country.

You support far-right imperialism. I don’t, so I guess we just have different views and we’re not going to be on the same page.

I’m not in favour of any proxy war against Russia, I just think Russia shouldn’t try to annex foreign territory by force. As I said before: “I want the Ukrainian people to be able to do what they want, within international law”. Same for the people of any other country.

What Russia is doing is directly modelled on what NATO did in Yugoslavia. Russia recognized the independence of LPR and DPR, and then accepted their request for military assistance. If you cared about what people of Ukraine want then you’d support the right of the people living in these regions to self determination.

Let’s take a look at a few slides from this lecture that Mearsheimer gave back in 2015 to get a bit of background on the subject. Mearsheimer is certainly not pro Russian in any sense. First, here’s the demographic breakdown of Ukraine:

here’s how the election in 2004 went:

            this is the 2010 election:

As we can clearly see from the voting patterns in both elections, the country is divided exactly across the current line of conflict. Furthermore, a survey conducted in 2015 further shows that there is a sharp division between people of eastern and western Ukraine on which economic bloc they would rather belong to:

I do. If they want to leave Ukraine and join Russia then they should make that clear to the Ukrainian government through voting and other democratic means. I don’t trust the Russian-backed referendums since Russia has a history of rigging votes.

They did make it clear by fighting against the western backed regime for the past 8 years. Anybody with even a minimally functioning brain would understand that people wouldn’t be fighting to the death if they had the option to just vote and leave.

Your logic reminds me of the logic employed by far-right Israelis. They point out that Hamas is fighting Israel, and then they assume that all Gazan civilians support Hamas. They use this to say it’s okay for Israel to drop bombs on Gazan civilians. Likewise you assume that all Donbas civilians support pro-Russia militants.

Anyone with an actual brain would realise that the only way you can truly measure opinion in the Donbas would be with a fair and free referendum.

I don’t assume, I literally linked you a lecture from an esteemed US professor explaining that vast majority of people in Donbas are Russian by nationality and support Russia. The analogy is inverted from what you’re claiming. People of Donbas are the Palestinians in this scenario being oppressed by a fascist regime.

The western backed regime literally will not allow having a fair and free referendum, if they did then people wouldn’t have risen up against it in 2008. Your argument utterly devoid of logic. I guess that’s par for the course for being a fascist.

Go read up some actual history of how Ukraine was cobbled together before spewing nonsense and embarrassing yourself further.
