So i used some 99% isopropyl alcohol on a couple buttons on the deck and now my screen has weird streaks. I’m devastated. Will it be ok? It’s only viewable at certain angles but this has been the device i’ve taken best care of.

Update: The smudge is 99% gone but the weird X going across the whole screen remains. I’m only a little disappointed but I’ve been tinkering with electronics my entire life and I’ve never seen this before so I’m more fascinated than anything. View from my normal angle is undisturbed.

How long ago did you get iso in there? If it was really recent, there’s a chance it may evaporate and be good as new. If it’s been a while, take solace in knowing it probably won’t get worse, at least.

Maybe an hour before that pic. it’s hard to see from my normal viewing angle so I’m bummed but it’s better than a brick. I have it off and hopefully drying but I’ll check back in on it in a day or two.

Damn bro did you just pour it on there straight from the bottle??

Use a qtip soaked in it next time.

As others have said get the screen hot from using it and hope it evaporates

i just used a dropper to drip a drop. I was trying to get the shmutz UNDER the button to clean up a bit because I have to press them at awkward angles multiple times to turn it on/off and volume up.

I’m a little sad but to be honest the only thing I’ve used more than this lil’ guy is my 3DS. It just sucks that of everything that could happen to it, me trying to clean it is what (potentially) ruined it.

While it won’t help you this time. There’s a spray cleaner called bw100. You can use to spray under buttons and things. Fixed a lot of drift issues without having to take the controller apart. Sorry for your steam deck hopefully you can’t really see it when the screen is on.
