Reprising our last double feature theme of Lovecraft

First up is From Beyond (1986), by the same director as Re-Animator (1985) at 4:30 Eastern Standard US Time.  It is 1h25m minutes long.

We will have a single 5 minute interstitial video for our piss break, the incredible “A Totally Normal Cover of Thanatos” by Erika.  This should give us enough time to finish both movies without cutting into the evening time.

Second will be Nic Cage’s Color Out of Space (2019) (1h51m) at about 6:00 PM Eastern US Time.

From Beyond (1986)

“From Beyond is a 1986 science-fiction body horror film directed by Stuart Gordon (who later would co-write Honey, I Shrunk the Kids), loosely based on the short story of the same name by H.P. Lovecraft.  From Beyond centers on a pair of scientists attempting to stimulate the pineal gland with a device called the Resonator, with the unforeseen result of their perceiving creatures from another dimension.”

We have already watched Gordon’s other Lovecraftian film, Re-Animator (1985).

The Color Out of Space (2019)

Nic Cage in a modern adaptation of one of Lovecraft’s stranger and more chill yet haunting stories, investigating the strange things that happen after a meteorite crash lands on a farm.  It appears to be quite more detailed than the original story.  “A story of cosmic terror about The Gardners, a family who moves to a remote farmstead in rural New England to escape the hustle of the 21st century.  They are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard.  The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly color.  To their horror, the Gardner family discover that this alien force is gradually mutating every life form that it touches…including them.”

I think this will be the last of the Lovecraft themed films I’ll be showing as I don’t know of any others that are generally recommended as good.  As such, please enjoy this bonus dump of Lovecraft memes from my hard drive:

(I just love the style of that title, and the cover is very cute)
