Like what everyone is gonna think I’m a chatbot now? Fuck you!
It’s not just an inconvenience—it’s a shift in how people communicate.
dead internet theory but for people
Dead people theory

It’s sad that I read this in my head with shitty AI voice.
The “dunno how to make any dash other than - on a pc or phone” gang stays winning

If it ain’t in my keyboard I ain’t typing it
do double dash for maximum human factor
Fun fact: Lemmy’s browser UI converts
--into – when rendering markdown.

Just write however you like, half the AI checkers don’t work anyways.
None of the AI checkers work
Unfortunately neither do the people using them.
I mean…if you don’t do prompt generation correctly and it generates broken or incorrect links and sources, you will be flagged as a fuck up and a plagiarist by safeassign; but yeah I don’t trust AI checkers.
As someone who almost never uses em dashes, fuck ChatGPT
As someone, fuck ChatGPT
Dude—as someone who uses a lot of dashes—fuck chatgpt
I’m not worried ⸻ I use the three-em dash
Powerful Hexbear right here.
Also thank you for bracing that impressive dash with spaces. Only hyphens go full-contact.
Preach!
Is it really that hard people?

ChatGPT can ligma :—
Yes. I’ve been called a bot because I know the difference between a hyphen and a dash, and I know the esoteric arts of alt-numpad-ASCII and character map. Knowing how to write basic English and knowing the difference between a dash and an em-dash is apparently indicative of being a bot now. FML

Don’t have autism, but I felt this one deep down. No bot is going to pry dashes or semicolons from my carpal tunnel riddled hands.
Have people ever used periods and dashes in their posts to communicate in Morse code? Something to ponder!
I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints about AI detection software flagging certain phrases as being AI-derived seemingly at random.
I almost never use dashes when typing but use em all the time writing by hand. When typing I overuse commas. A nearly comical use of parentheses is present no matter what.
I just, like, replaced it, with, commas, you know?
As someone who uses em-dashes, the Oxford comma, and parallel phrase structures — fuck not only ChatGPT, but also all other LLMs.
