Talk among yourselves! I want to hear why or why not.
Texas is definitely part of the south. Honestly almost everywhere in the US not part of a major city is culturally part of the south because “the south” is just cultural code for “extra racist”
I’m from Alabama and I’d say Texas is part of ‘The South’ but not ‘The Deep South’ which is like Louisiana to South Carolina.
I second this. I lived in New Orleans for most of my live, live in Texas now. I was once told “anything north of I-10 is a Yankee” by a very inebriated sage.

Is florida deep south?
florida is florida
its true “Deep South” does apply to Florida but it doesn’t really come close too telling the whole story
Only the northern panhandle. Miami and Orlando are Caribbean.
No one knows, place is full of dinosaurs n shit
The panhandle is, but not South Florida. Just like how East Texas is, but not West or Central Texas.
It’s definitely past panhandle. Ocala, Gainesville, Deland. Not like the north and west are much different tho when Ohio and Indiana exist
Yes, but it’s also Texas, a further condemnation.
As a Canadian, you’re all The South
They were part of the confederacy, they’re part of the South.
Asmongold walks freely in Texas and he’s considered socially accepted. Think about that.
He probably walks freely in Texas because the people who would recognize him and the people who are outdoors are two entirely separate groups.
I’m not referring only to his fame. I meant that he only bathes once every 2 months and he’s openly racist. In a state other than Texas, that type of person would stand out more.
He has many types of camouflage.
Culturally? practically all of this dump is the same. Same smug superiority complex from every worthless cracker. Maybe NYC is slightly different. Step outside and it’s all “the deep south”. Nothing but mindless klansmen and proud of being mindless klansmen.
Burgerlanders speak of regions with alleged cultural differences as if Burgerland isn’t horribly uniform in culture for a country of its size and population. Countries like Mexico and Brazil are far more culturally diverse and I wouldn’t necessarily call them notably culturally diverse for their size and population either. Actual culturally diverse countries as in being culturally diverse even when taking size and population into account are countries like Nigeria and Indonesia.
Not a bad take actually

Are they hogs? Do they love eating shit and dying?
Yes, yes, and yes. Southerners through and through!
Its in El Norte
I think it depends on which part of Texas. It’s a big ass state, and thus the western chunk is more The Southwest, i.e. like Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, whereas east Texas is part of The South.
Texas was settled as an extension of the Deep South. This still can be seen on population density maps, where the third of the state lumped up towards the eastern border has almost all the population, and all of the populated countryside.
Sure, Dallas became the plains ranching hub, and Austin and San Antonio are more Western, but the western half of the state is almost totally empty.
They didn’t have to be but they made their bed in 1860.
with regard to barbecue? no. that’s brisket territory.
Uh oh. Is Brisket not Barbecue?
it very much is, but most southerners mean pork when they say barbecue. i assume texas is different because of its ranching industry.

Lower 48’ers are all south of me. But yes, Texas, along with New Mexico, Arizona, and California are all southern states.
I think this is a distinction without a difference. The only useful thing to know is that you can get a particular type of liberal Texan irritated by calling it the south.
