“I’m a hater, not a monster.”
I think it’s valid to say that an actor is shit.
Be a hater all you want buddy, just don’t be a bigot. We take those I guess
i feel like all of his characters are quiet and awkward
so basically his acting is just standing still not really talking. easiest job ever
Yeah I feel like this is true pre and post transition
Wtf do the casting calls and test scenes look like? lol
Imagine you are selecting an item in fastfood restaurant… and roll
Uhhh can I get aaa uhh
Awkward choosing
my name is Jason Bateman
Wut! Hard Candy!
“Inspiring! This bully uses proper pronouns, even with his victims!”
“Trans women are women and their place is in the home.”
I mean that’s at least half of the male doms into force fem
The worst? No. Definitely not the best tho.
I think it may have more to do with scripts and shows than Elliot’s acting chops. Umbrella Academy isn’t exactly… it’s not… look, it’s just dumb fun.
I really feel that post transition Elliot was more underwhelming on screen. Not sure if they just didn’t know how to write anything for Viktor to do or if Elliot was dealing with too much to give it his all but Vanya was probably my second favorite character in seasons 1 and 2, and Viktor I struggle to remember at all. And I liked all of Umbrella Academy, even if it was downhill after season 2 and its ending made no sense at all.
They ran out of any role for the character after the stuff that happened in season 1 and 2… and they also kind of ran out of juice for the entire show. And all of his scenes after coming out as trans exist in the malaise of a show that should have already ended. That isn’t Elliot Page’s fault. But also they did not exactly excel.
I definitely think that’s true. Page excels in understated dramatic acting, not in over the top camp. While Umbrella seasons 1-2 had both, the only enjoyable parts of seasons 3-4 were the over the top bits with the exception of Fives and Lila’s outing. The Harlan as adult plot was underbaked and rushed, so I barely remember it.
It’s cheeks. I had 0 fun.

That scene where they all kind of dance around because they don’t know how to deal with emotional intimacy and the whole house is shown as a doll house fooled a lot of people into thinking this show was gonna be artsier than it was.
I liked the fish bowel head character. He got ate.
Fish… bowel?

Oh yeah, I remember just stopping the show like midway through episode 2 and then not thinking about it ever again.
I thought season 1 was decent enough for Netflix slop. But then season 2 went full Red Dawn where the Soviets invade the 1960s US and these superheroes try using time travel to stop them. Like really? In 2022 (or whatever year it was) we’re doing evil Russians invade the US for reasons?
There’s even a plot line where some of the characters join the Civil Rights Movement, doing sit-ins and protests while getting beaten up by cops and white people. “We totally won’t use our superpowers to kill white supremacists, but we will use them against people trying to liberate Americans from capitalism.” Just bleh.
I noticed that, too. I finished season 2 because I had already started it, but haven’t resumed since then.
damn, that’s wild
Elliot was in a lot of things that won awards and stuff before they revealed that they were trans, but since then it’s been the worst part of Umbrella Academy and (Checks imdb) Ark: The Animated Series, and a single nature documentary they narrate titled “Second Nature: Gender and Sexuality in the Animal World”
…they made an animated series out of Ark? Damn, really can’t get anything made these days without slapping a random IP on it.
I think there are a bunch of basic straight boys out there who were extremely attracted to Elliot pre-transition and getting real weird about that
Respect to this asshole for not being weird

A win’s a win.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single thing with Page in it.
There’s a bunch of stuff before they came out as trans, and like… 3 things afterwards (And one of those is finishing Umbrella Academy and the other are a video game adaptation and narrating a nature documentary). Like it did just kill their career it seems.
Like it did just kill their career it seems.
Not completely dead if he’s been cast in a Nolan film.
Wack
I think the only thing I’ve seen was Juno, which was his breakthrough role.
Ope, I take it back—they were also in Inception, but I can’t say I remember what exactly their role in it was (or anyone else’s, for that matter).
He was in a bunch of stuff. Hard Candy, Juno, Inception, and Super. Like he’s a good actor. His career was also just very focused on being presented as an ingenue and the industry is not writing a lot of trans parts and especially not trans man parts.
Edit: You know what I looked that up, and there is a surprising niche that seems accepting of trans men. Police procedurals. There’s just a bunch of trans men playing cops without any comment, and that’s… kind of nice. Like they just get to be dudes without it being a big deal.
He was also in the X Men movies with Patrick Stewart
Okay so I have seen inception, but nothing else off his imdb page.
They were like the second most important actor lol. The architect
Like I said, I remember almost nothing about Inception…saw it in theaters once and never again. Here, I’ll list it all out:
things I remember about Inception
- they’re on a plane incepting some corporate dude using a briefcase thingy, probably to get a password or do corporate espionage or whatever. It’s the guy who plays Scarecrow in Batman Begins, I think.
- BWAAAAAAAAAN
- Leo washes up on some surreal shore
- Leo’s daughter is important somehow. And/or wife? I think he’s trying to find them? Or maybe he’s just divorced as hell
- the rotating hallway that was a practical effect
- Leo’s reality check top at the end omg is it still a dream???
- oh also Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s in this (he’s in the hallway scene)
- there’s something about timing with the layers of inception, where time passes at different rates and they sync up using music or something so that they can influence the other layers at precise moments
genuinely do not remember the actual plot of the movie at all. I feel like it’s a heist movie but I have no idea what they’re stealing or who the characters are or what their motivations are or even how it turns out in the end
Man I loved inception, my only complaint is that the dream sequence aren’t nearly dreamlike enough. It’s like they walked up to the edge of their concept and then chickened out and replaced all the dreams with Bond setpieces. Still a good movie though.
uhh anyway: a) they were trying to make a trillionaire break up the corporate monopoly he inherited (like the investors would let him do that lmao) and b) Leo’s whole deal was that he
spoilers
killed his wife by incepting her with the idea “this is a dream” causing her to kill herself in the real world in an effort to wake up from it
and c) the important thing at the end is that Leo didn’t look at the top, showing that he had changed as a character and was ready to live his life in the present and raise his kids.
the rotating hallway that was a practical effect
oh also Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s in this (he’s in the hallway scene)
He’s also wearing like a vest or something in this scene. It was very 2010s
