Perfect if you happen to have a relative named Kevin McCallister, intent on repulsing the likes of Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, whilst the family is away!
Such a beautiful piece!
I must say, you really helped me fall in love with this stuff, PugJesus.
I generally don’t like guns, but I’m also curious… relentlessly curious… plus I love animals!
Thanks, PJ (if I may call you that?) for keeping these awesome history projects absolutely *blooming* with fascinating content. Thank you so much. ❤️
“Be the change you want to see in the Fediverse”, and all that! I just saw a little empty spot where some history minutiae could go, and have done my best to fill it! As long as people enjoy it, I count it as a success! And doubly so for sparking interest in the subject! 🙏
Appreciate.
Um… and I hope this is not too awkward, but as someone also with major physical / health issues myself (bad case of CFS/ME), may I ask what caught your eye upon history’s relics? And what might be your concentration of studies, PugJesus?
I majored in History in college - for all the good that did me, lmao.
I actually always had some amount of interest in history - I remember in pre-K my mother got me some Biblical story flashcard-type-things with illustrations on them - and I always found the ‘context’ ones about what a denarius was or who the Phillistines were to be far more interesting than the actual Biblical content. Also, when I got older, probably why I enjoyed 1st and 2nd Samuel the most out of the books of the Bible - they’re the most oriented around a rough historical narrative.
Honestly, though, video games were a huge influence on my development - sitting between my grandparents as they played Final Fantasy and Tactics Ogre had me asking them questions like “What’s a lord? What’s a vassal? What’s a war crime?”
I could go on and on like that - but I guess it all amounts to “I’ve always loved the past.” As for artifacts in particular, I had a folder with a few (maybe 3 dozen?) historical artifacts of especial note on my old computer, ones I trotted out to show friends when I got to talking about some piece in particular. When I made the move to the Fediverse, I thought “I bet after a month or two of daily posting a historical artifacts sub will be self-sustaining!”
Didn’t quite realize how spotty, or how fleeting, the Reddit exodus would be, lmao. Might’ve flown back on Reddit, with more traffic than some countries, but not here. But I’m not too upset - still aiming for that self-sustaining comm even without my input, but I can handle a few years instead of a few months. :p
And certainly it introduced me to new ways to search for artifacts online. It does frustrate me how splintered all these museums and private collections are, but I suppose that’s part of why link aggregates like R*ddit and the Threadiverse are so damn useful.
Ah, right so.
Didn’t quite realize how spotty, or how fleeting, the Reddit exodus would be, lmao.
Oh god, yeah… same.
But that’s also kinda why you blow me away with your dedication upon such varieted content. For example, me, I work slowly upon writing articles, and have moved to the ‘dripping content’ model upon my community, and that ‘seems to be okay.’
Meanwhile, you are just CRUSHING IT, from my POV. ❤️
for when you need to kill siamese twins
It’s like in a double boss fight where you have to finish both bosses simultaneously, otherwise one of them will revive the other
Into the fires of battle, unto the Anvil of War!
You know I keep that MF thang on me.
Imagine the rotation from firing one chamber. As large and offset as those barrels are i bet it’d feel like someone wrenching your wrist around.
I’ll take two.
