Before I was a leftist rejecting the fascist ideology I was a child who was averse to retro entertainment. I really hated the flutes and whatever else made black and white movie soundtracks. The 1950s reminded me of the smell of my dad as he came home from work, the old carpet of my cousins’ house, uncomfortable chairs, and easily breakable fixtures. I didn’t like the women’s hairstyles or silky night gowns. Then, to top it off, I was exposed to critiques like breaking masks, hidden rage, and the like. It’s not until Kurt Kobain is on stage it that fuzzy jacket that I feel like there’s someone who’s comfortable.
This isn’t really fallout related but someone needs to hear about me not liking the 1950s
the 1950s americana are this terrifying triumph of conservatism, seeming to totally dominate everything until it started getting pushback in the 60s (resistance was in actuality strong thru the 50s but it’s been purged from popular conscious). the “white picket fence” aesthetic has always symbolized something terrible hiding beneath a cheap façade to me.
i think it’s a fantastic aesthetic for dystopia and grim historical fiction.

Why would you be upset at this character for lore reasons instead of just because he’s an annoying character that feels like a mid 2000s videogame YouTube character.
That scene with him fighting the Securitron was so out of place. Both Kumail and McCulley’s characters had big reveals too that would usually be reserved for like a known character returning. Not just “HEY LOOK YOU KNOW THIS GUY! DID YOU FORGET YOU WERE WATCHING HECKING FALLOUT? THIS GUY IS ALSO A BIG NERD LIKE YOU!”
