Start watching the second hand market. Most of my PC components are bought second hand, and at much cheaper than buying any of those components new.
None of these components are of course bleeding edge, but still sufficient to play any game I want.
I bought an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT this summer for 1000 DKK (~€133 or ~$157).
Bitterness in coffee comes from overextraction, acidity in coffee often comes from underextraction.
On top of that darker roasts tend to be more bitter, and lighter roasts tend to be more acidic.
The main problem is usually the wrong grind size and brew method.
Grinding the coffee too coarsely makes it hard to extract flavours, leading to underextraction (sourness). Grinding too finely makes it easier to extract flavours (both desirable and undesirable) leading to overextraction (bitterness)
Regular coffee makers, pour over, and espresso are all percolation brews. That means that the water flows through the coffee and extracts flavours while it does these kinds of brews can develop channels while the water flows through, which causes the water to overextract the coffee where the channel is, but underextract the rest of the coffee, which can lead to a brew that is at the same time sour (underextracted) and bitter (overextracted)
The other general method of brewing is immersion brewing. This is where the coffee and the water hangs around for a while during the brew, and is then strained away from each other. Good examples are French press, aeropress, siphon, and cold brew. Since these methods can’t really develop channels, you don’t have the same problem with over and underextraction, and therefore these methods are also much easier to “get right”.
So if you want an easy method too get better tasting coffee, try a French press, and be careful grinding too finely. If there’s a layer of silt at the bottom of your cup you are grinding too finely. Pregroud coffee is usually too fine for French press.
Yeah most 7" readers have the page turning buttons on the side which usually makes the device too wide for pockets.
The 6" readers fit my pocket quite well… So a foldable dual screen 6" sound like a pretty nice upgrade.
Most of what I use my readers for are reflowable text like epubs… But I guess if you could show a single page from a PDF across both screens then it might actually be big enough to be able to read while still being pocketable… You would probably want to go with the high resolution e-ink screens, like the one in the Kobo Clara HD (1072 x 1448). A combined resolution of two of those would be 2144 x 1448,
The rear doors in Teslas don’t have any lever to manually release the door. You actually have to take off a piece of trim or the side pocket liner to find a wireloop that you have to pull.
The rear passengers in the tesla are rarely the owner of the tesla, which means that they also likely doesn’t know how to access the manual release… Why this hasn’t caused a worldwide recall is a mystery to me.
I would strongly agree with you. I know so many people that will completely discount a game if the graphics isn’t bleeding edge “photorealistic”-adjacent.
I know a bunch of friends that love base building, automation, logistics, trains, programming and so on. But they completely discounted even trying a game like Factorio because “the graphics are ugly”… Instead opting for Satisfactory or similar. Satisfactory is an awesome game too, but it lacks a lot of technical depth compared to Factorio.
There’s a lot of other games where the atmosphere or art direction are also hugely important, and a grey or black/purple checkered texture just doesn’t convey the same feeling as if something looks like a rusty iron pipe.
I can see many situations where either AI generated placeholder textures or just textures from an asset library could help a lot with prototyping, and play testing.
From my experience of selling and apartment almost a decade ago, it’s clear that many people lack imagination. We heard that several people didn’t want to buy the apartment because they didn’t like the furniture… which wasn’t even part of the sale, or didn’t like the colour of the walls… Which they could of course just paint over… So I can definitely see that many playtesters would have trouble envisioning the game, if all the textures are solid grey, and the models are square.
I’m however also very much dislike the current state of things where developers will AI generate huge portions of the game and assets releasing it as the final product. It’s a shame that the craft of artists is getting dumped and replaced by AI gen…
In my book, the developers can use AI as much as they want, but they should clearly declare where AI gen has been used. Then the consumer can make an informed decision of whether to support it or not. I would personally avoid games that ship AI assets, but wouldn’t at all have a problem with the developer using AI assets during development and prototyping.
AVIDemux happily does keyframe cuts (lossless), and also non-keyframe cuts (with a reencode). But you probably get a lot more control over the actual reencode with ffmpeg, so it all depends on whether you want the ease of use or the control.
AVIDemux can cut video pretty easily. It’s not just for AVI files, it happily works with MKV, MP4 and many other formats.
Flipping/selling it will not feed the data centres. Consumer RAM sticks are entirely different than the RAM sticks used in data centres.
In data centres they use ECC memory, which is quite uncommon in consumer computers. The chips on the RAM stick is essentially the same but once the chips are soldered to the memory stick, it’s destiny is locked in.
The price increases are entirely due to lower supply, because the AI data centres are buying up the production capacity for data centre grade RAM directly from the manufacturers, causing them to manufacture way fewer consumer grade RAM sticks.

I have a very nice scale that is accurate to 0.1 g and updates very rapidly, because I’m a coffee nerd, and need the precision to accurately dose my espresso. But one of the jokes in the community is that the only two groups of people that need scales like these are coffee people and drug dealers…
At first the loop also made me feel like I had to hurry a lot. But the more I played the more I found calm in it. You can get to anywhere pretty quickly, and you find plenty of shortcuts if you look for them. And what you don’t have time for in this loop, you have time for in the next.
