FYI when we’re talking about taxing the rich and wealth we’re not talking about doctors and lawyers even if they still make a fuck ton because they are still getting paid for their labour and they need to work in order to maintain their lifestyle even if they would be considered rich.
What we’re talking about are people who make their living through their capital I.e. due to the exploitation of other people.
Not to be a downer but I’ve talked with a deputy of the European Parliament that opposed chat control and they were getting so many emails that they just had to create a filter to immediately get rid of these emails as otherwise their email inbox would just get full and they literally couldn’t work (as they wouldn’t be able to receive other emails).
And this is from someone that is on our side. I assume that people that are actually for this bill will be getting blasted even more and will care much less, so I’m not sure how much are emails effective.
Bars already have schedules like that and it’s not an issue

If the many have the control then it is hard for any one individual to gain control and rig the system for himself, because the many can kick him out
With capitalism you don’t have this natural control. You put in checks and balances that will fail eventually as they always did and then you’re screwed.
It doesn’t because the power and needs of the many are aligned in socialism and that’s not the case in capitalism
Within capitalism you need checks and balances so that the ruling class aka capitalist class doesn’t put their “needs” (more like desires”) above the needs of the majority
Within socialism the ruling class is the majority by definition they can’t exploit the system in their favor because that’s literally how it’s supposed to work.

Capitalism that you mention that could work was the capitalism we had until the 70s and it’s what lead us to the late stage capitalism we have today
Even if you reset you will end up at this stage because accumulation of wealth and thus power will always occur and then the capitalist class has both the means and incentive to change the rules of the system and then they get more wealth and power etc etc

Serbia is just showing us in really time that peaceful protests are only allowed because they are an inefficient tool to enact change (at best) and a harmful tool at worst.
These protests were massive, lasted for months on end, spanned the whole country, were asking for extremely reasonable and mild changes and still haven’t accomplished anything of note.
I know that the violent side didn’t come from the students but it will be interesting to see if this changes things

It will still happen is a bit of a fallacy. It’s one less person doing that job but I agree that one person won’t make a meaningful change
However the thing that changes is that if you reject that job you reduced by 100% your direct contribution to people killing missiles. Someone else will design that missile but at least you won’t have to live with the guilt that you did
Now, if it’s between that and a much worse life, I won’t blame anyone. But it’s a choice that everyone has to make for themselves. Personally I have possibility to reject those offers, and so I do.
