Amazon delivers, just not same-day. I’ve lived north of 55’ my whole life, and usually it takes 3-5 days.

Technology@lemmy.world•“It Wouldn’t Be Surprising If, in Two Years’ Time, There Was a Film Made Completely Through AI”: Says Hayao Miyazaki’s Own SonEnglish
45·10 months agoPassing reminder that Goro Miyazaki is an architect who never wanted to make movies. He was brought on as an architecture advisor, and the studio kept pushing him to take more and more responsibility because he’s his father’s son, and his father encouraged it. The movie sucks because he’s not a director and he didn’t want to make it.
(Side note: I actually rather like Tales from Earthsea, so when I say it sucks I’m referring to general public reception and not my own opinion.)
“Horde” is orcs. “Hoard” is dragons.
Radiate, recognize one silent call
There are people in PR thread explaining it’s a reference to this screenshot. Which is fake, for the record.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I hate that I am become this person but: are delivery drivers just allowed to call and say 'please come and meet me' now?English
0·2 years agoI am paying a to-my-door delivery service to deliver things, to my door. I shouldn’t have to specify that I expect people to do the entire job and not just the easy part of it. If they don’t want to do the entire job, that too is a conversation for them to have with the company, not me.

0·2 years agoPersonally, I’m crippled, so even getting to the front door is a process. If a driver calls me and says I need to come down, I tell them no shot, I paid you to bring it to my door, so either bring it to my door or refund it.
If drivers are not getting paid enough to bring deliveries to people’s doors? That’s a conversation for the drivers to have with the company. The company says they’ll bring it to me, and I expect the service I pay for.

Technology@lemmy.world•As Smartphone Industry Sputters, the iPhone Expands Its DominanceEnglish
0·2 years agoUnless an iphone becomes literally the only option, I don’t see myself ever getting one. I’m deeply morally opposed to their walled-garden approach, and I won’t even get one Samsung’s Androids for the same reason. It would be nice for me if there was more people like me, but regardless, as long as there’s a freer option, I’ll be taking it.

Oh, well, I mean, study after study has shown permanent daylight time is terrible for childrens’ development, but if it’s convenient for you I guess we should lol
