My personal opinion is that it fails because SpaceX, like a lot of space startups, embrace a silicon valley coding mindset of ‘move fast and break things’, which results in them spending much more of their time and effort on testing than on design. Make a change, test, make a subsequent change, test. It gets them to a working prototype more quickly than legacy space/ defense companies. However, there’s no emphasis on modeling or design, which is problematic for solving complex problems that haven’t been solved for 50 years already.

In fairness to Colin Powell, my understanding was he didn’t know it was a lie/ trumped up evidence at the time, and was pretty bitter about it in later years.

As far as the war in Gaza, Biden/ establishment Democrats still stood behind Netanyahu in the wake of Oct 7th. There was only slight functional differences in Biden’s America’s stance on Israel in Gaza and Trump’s.

Less salient, adding a cap on mortgage interest deductions on taxes. Republicans under Trump I did it to punish wealthy coastal (high home value) residents who rented to vote blue. Democrats left it in place because they approved of people who have more home value paying more taxes.

It goes on. Both Democrats and Republicans failed to close Guantanamo, advance voting reform, advance marijuana legalization, end the war in Afghanistan, or take ANY action about climate change for decades, etc.

It’s not every issue mind you, but Democrats are frustratingly adherent to the status quo while the United States has needed meaningful reform for decades.

Russia has already stated it will back its ally, Iran.

The only people I’ve heard for it are the Trump hating former Republicans in the Bulwark podcast. Tim Miller had Bill Kristol on and they were pro-regime change in Iran. Leftover neocons, basically.

The world war is already here, it’s just not all-out yet. This policy change isn’t going to be the instigator of it.

Regardless of Trump, the US is not the preeminent military or economic power in the world anymore. Further, the global climate is changing. As such, a global reshuffling of resources and alliances is inevitable.

The reason behind priests not being allowed to marry originally had nothing to do with their faith though. It’s because Catholic priests were bequeathing church assets to their children when they died. The church just put a thin veneer of dogma on top of the reasoning when they used the dictate of no marriage to stop the theft.

I watched the YouTube stream of a recent Maryland townhall: dark blue state, all Democrat Representatives and Senators speaking and taking questions, hosted by a Democrat county executive. Someone got up and confronted them about the immigrants abducted by ICE being held in Baltimore Harbor and not allowed to see their lawyers. Multiple people in the live chat started complaining that they weren’t discussing real issues like Social Security and Medicare. … Even though they had discussed it earlier. Americans are fundamentally selfish.

I think he had to enter into agreements about content in order to get financing from the Saudis and Russians.
