I’ve been here a year and I still don’t get how lemmy works. lol
Apparently I’m on the world one. No idea what impact that has, I just remember it being the easiest to join

I wish they’d at least be honest about it and discuss exactly how that benefits the nation. There’s gotta be some reason. I can’t imagine it’s simply because most politicians invest in those companies, but idk maybe

I think this is where you get a split between leftists and neoliberals. (Note: I’m not a political science expert)
I’m totally open to opposing views on this, because I don’t think this is something that gets discussed enough/honestly, but my first impression is that I’m totally in favor of this.
I read Chip War (book on the history of Silicon Valley) and it covers up to Trump’s decision to put tariffs on Huawei, effectively ending their ability to monopolize the 5G market. I found myself supporting that as well, even though he makes his opinion known that Obama likely would not have done that - I doubt Biden/Harris would either. Granted, I think that’s because they’d be crucified for being anti-feee market and using government overreach. That said, silicon valley companies are happy to accept government support when it helps them compete against TSMC (supported by Taiwan’s gov). Imo, they do this because they want it both ways (gov support and low taxes/regulations). This is gross but I get it, so I’m usually just mostly disappointed in the American people that are asleep and rather stupid (not entirely their fault, but entirely their/our responsibility)
I know y’all are trying to be open minded, so first off, you’re doing great! That said, you’re doing so well it’s kind of at risk of being opened so wide your brain might fall out
Seriously though, I would absolutely think someone was… being silly (to put it nicely) if they asked which Korea an American was from (this for sure wouldn’t apply to an 8 year old tho)

I want to agree with you. I’d be with you if you’d at least mentioned the impact this has on actual American citizens.
My understanding is plenty of people have been silenced for expressing their support for Palestine. I mean, hasn’t Congress literally proposed/passed bills saying they can’t even talk about the number of people dying?
It’s fascinating how people are so eager to sweep it all under the rug Americans themselves are ignored just to protect Israel, and more importantly, to protect American politicians that refuse to even learn about the situation. That’s not even mentioning the absolute infuriating trash that passes as corporate news nowadays (including anything pushed to the masses by large social media publishers). It’s like in order to protect Israel… err I mean, stop caring about this issue because it makes us uncomfortable, we’re entirely willing to allow news organizations to be straight-up propaganda, feeding blatant misinformation. It’s weird how we have zero criticism for them because that might invite someone to mention Gaza
I’m gonna pretend there was a windows update at that specific time so it makes a bit more sense to me
lol. That was good
I was and am still blown away people worked through all that without getting/demanding hazard pay.
I mean, considering all the unions going on strike nowadays I’d have been furious if my union didn’t seize the opportunity to demand better wages and working conditions.
It has an SD card slot! Thanks for sharing this!!
I’ve finally been feeling the urge to move on from my galaxy S10 but haven’t been able to find anything remotely worth considering.
