I dislike the implementation of a lot of AI.

I pretty much only come across them when I need support for something, and I’m good at searching the sites for info before I go to the support. This means that the AI only gives me answers that I’ve already seen and that doesn’t work - they always waste my time.

I am also a frequent visitor of subreddits like r/askphysics, and the amount of nonsense that comes up because the AI that people asked doesn’t understand what it is saying isn’t helping with my perception either. I much prefer using a search engine instead, because they don’t hallucinate answers and I can validate the content of the page based on a lot of leads that you don’t get if an AI copies the answer and rephrases it.

There are a lot of places where AI can be a very good tool to implement, but those are not LLM related. It can for instance be used for getting CNC machines to better correct for thermal expansion in different parts of the machine, based on the temperature and humidity of the environment, runtime, and other info like that, so more accurate machining can be achieved.

I really don’t need AI in my coffee machine or toaster though. I strongly suspect that those are just data harvesters.

The frontline is basically stationary - a tiny Russian advancement - and has been so for a long time.

The economy of the UN who are supporting Ukraine is in much better shape than the Russian economy though, and it is easier for us to keep things up than it is for Russia.

I think that is Islam. There are 1.8 billion Muslims, and the hate they receive from many is way greater than the crimes that the few commit. A lot of people also forget the circumstances that many immigrants came from, and underestimate the effect that the hate has on people over time. Jobs are harder to find in western countries if you look like a Muslim for instance, and of course that shows in the crime statistics.

Please don’t. I regularly use Google for doing calculations, and the fact that the AI gives a full explanation of how to do every step means that the result is hidden behind the “show more” button instead of being visible immediately.

I don’t need the AI telling me how to multiply two numbers three times during one calculation, and things like that. I know how to do the math. I am using a calculator because I want the result.

Google wasting energy on applying AI to everything indiscriminately only incentivizes my switch to a different search provider. I don’t trust AI generated answers because it is very hard to unlearn wrong stuff. I want a site where I can see what effort went into providing the result to the internet users, because that is useful for gauging the validity of the content. AI is hit or miss and gives no clues about the quality - I don’t want to gamble with my knowledge like that.

That course of action is basically a given when land is seized in a war.

I’m sad to say that I don’t think that the common strategies will work in this case. He has built the empire around his narcissism, and has too much money and too many supporters to throw at his problems.

I’m just waiting for his term to end, while arguing against his supporters with a level head so there is a chance of converting some of them.

If everybody lies then nobody is worth voting for. Don’t engage in the same bullshit.

I don’t demand to be taken seriously. I just know that there is a lot of misinformation out there, and applied my own rule of caution. In this case it was a simple smell test.

It isn’t tone deaf. People are free to decide for themselves if they want to participate or not. If someone is okay with it they are not doing any damage to those who don’t feel like doing it. The same goes the other way around.

Nobody needs your instance to sell anything. The AI companies can access the data for free, just like the rest of us do through the web.

I enjoyed it when the author was in charge of the TV series. I watched until the end of the initial series, but after that I never looked back.

Too many things didn’t make sense, like how the dragon queen suddenly became a completely different person. How the Lannister siblings made up after hating each others guts, only for the tower to collapse on top of them the same instant. That everyone met their nemesis at the very end. Why anyone would vote for Bran to become the new king when he barely spoke to anyone since he was like 13 years old, and many other inconsistencies like that. The last couple of seasons barely had any story at all, it was mostly about fighting… It was bad.
