  • Sounds like that these prisoners would be willing recruits for the Allies against the Neo Confederate Axis. If this is how they are treated in a time of peace, in war, these prisoners would be enslaved and abused by Turdpublican bastards.

If there are Blue State military planners, they should make prisons a priority capture target. Their occupants will support the war effort, be it at home or in the field, wherever these people think is best for their future.

  • A civilian populous that already has small arms and some ammo, will make the opening stages of a war less difficult for the side that is willing to engage with them in hand, and bring their arms into military service.

Even now, your standard gun is very valuable in the Ukrainian defense against Russia. A rifle or shotgun is useful for taking and holding ground. An artillery battery is good for blowing shit up, but it can’t take land nor interact with people that goes in a way beyond pure destruction. An armed soldier can keep bread lines in good order, prevent sabotage, scout, build fortifications, escort armor, and many more unremarkable but key functions.

On top of that, fancy gear requires severe logistic chains. A civil war in America would shatter many links. Further, the military isn’t a hive mind, many experts on both sides will go their separate ways, which inherently means that many difficulties with deploying complicated items will become much greater. A rifleman is relatively simple to train and field, while a tank or aircraft requires many manhours to train and maintain.

I recommend watching the German War Files regarding Germany’s military vehicles in WW2. Many of the issues you see there, still apply to the modern world.

  • I think we should have a reworked economy. Aside from having UBI that grants free utilities, basic shelter, and food, I think that all occupations should have fixed incomes, tied to a rank. East Coast, West Coast, an waiter gets $40k a year. An astronaut, who has the highest ranked job, gets $100k. After taxes, waiters have $30k and the astro a $60k income. CEOs get their rank by votes from workers of their company. By fixing incomes and preventing distortions like billionaires, we can make it easier to diagnose whether a company or person are making too much money. This combined with absolute wealth caps, would make it easier to correct wealth issues.

All waiters know they are supposed to have $30k from their job, thus they can complain about the problem without bullshit excuses from businesses. Plus, free food and shelter guaranteed by government allows for unlimited unionization and job searching, which puts the onus on employers to do better: Without being able to coerce people into working, companies have to do the right thing.

We can have a government-funded department that sets the income ranks of jobs according to the amount of effort, risk, and knowledge a job requires, and makes that the standard that all employees can expect. If a job’s income weirdly deviates from that of other similar jobs, workers of that occupation can unionize to force the government to properly assess the value of the job.

  • I think it would be better to divide up the US into four regions, with each its own president. That president gets to pick one national justice, and each region elects four justices independently of their president. Plus, the four regional presidents elect a figurehead president to represent the nation, who gets to pick an final justice. 21 national justices in total, five of them picked by their respective president. When a president is removed from office, their justice follows.

This increases the separations of powers, and allows for the national court to have their pool of justices change relatively often. Keeping the minds of our judiciary fresh is important, otherwise they fall out of touch with the citizens they are supposed to serve.
