I blame Apple. They removed the headphone-jack, and suddenly access to headphones went from “included” to “buy our expensive AirPods”. Other brands went with it too. I guess this increased cultural tolerance for ‘loud-watching’ in public, presumably starting with kids (who it would be wasteful to buy AirPods for, seeing how easy it is to lose them). Unless everyone had perfect manners, this result was inevitable.

People don’t need any advanced CIA techniques to control the way you think and feel; Plenty of ‘normal’ abuse tactics can achieve this over time - arguably, control is the entire point of abuse.

Those signs aren’t from Sweden. Our traffic agency (who prints the signs) doesn’t use ‘fart’ meaning ‘speed’ - except for ‘gångfartsområde’, ‘walking speed area’, which disappointingly enough doesn’t even have the text on it - but mainly uses ‘hastighet’ meaning ‘velocity’. Other commenters in this thread have posted examples of ‘fart’ in a different meaning being used on Swedish traffic signs.
