  • I said that you are probably not very good. Your lack of git knowledge and your seeming inability to learn git means that you’ll likely never be able to function effectively in a development team and will only succeed in holding everyone back. Your lack of knowledge of version control overall is a massive point against you from the outset.

If you’re a solo developer and never need to collaborate with other developers then good for you, but you lack of version control knowledge means that you’ll also probably end up being one of the ones crying that you lost 6 months of work because of stupid reason x y or z.

Read up on fallacies, I did not use one. Your pathetic attempt to shoehorn anything that I said into a no true Scotsman fallacy just shows that you also have poor communication skills.

Holy fucking shit. I didn’t even catch the bit at the end. You really think that cli arguments are archaic??? I’m going to go ahead and assume that regex has you scared shitless as well. Fuck me, you are not a good developer.

Sidenote, something that will help you understand regex and you can test your strings against it in realtime, look up https://regexr.com/

  • So I’m a transphobe for relaying an incident that actually happened now?

Or am I a transphobe for suggesting that guardrails are a good idea? I’m not suggesting gatekeeping pronouns or gender, but I would put forth that claiming one’s gender as “goddess” and that their pronouns must be capitalized and if you don’t you’re misgendering them has about as much validity as some maga asshole saying that they identify as an attack helicopter.

Of course inclusiveness is important, but it is also important to have a firm foot on reality and recognize ridiculousness for what it is, and possibly more importantly, call it out.

Unfortunately, in the trans community, it has veered towards an “all things are valid” approach, however while that is great sentiment to have, it breaks down the moment someone abuses it in bad faith, whether it be a maga asshole, or someone claiming that they are a goddess (and should be recognized as such) and that their preferred pronouns MUST be capitalized or it’s you misgendering them.

  • To be fair, blahaj zone is a bit of a mess. Let’s not forget people trying to navigate the insane user insisting that their pronouns were goddess and going mental over claiming that people who didn’t capitalize properly were misgendering them.

At some point, you have to set limits as to what you will tolerate. I understand that an all inclusive instance would be reluctant to do so. However, you’ll end up with MAGAts doing shit like this for fun, just to see an entire instance bend over backwards to try to accommodate, and you will get genuinely insane people doing the same thinking that they are doing nothing out of the ordinary.

Interestingly enough, while I am not part of the lgbtq+tia community, I am a staunch ally and even I feel as though bz is a place I want to steer far away from.

Moderating that instance must be fucking exhausting.

What the fuck are you on about? I don’t follow Rossman, I don’t even like him. I do like his product though. Dude has some weird ass libertarian leanings that are “eyebrow raising”, if I’m being generous.

The fucking OSI does not get to define open source however it wants. Open source means the the source is open to the public. FULL FUCKING STOP. The OSI co-opted the term open source, and people like you fell in line. What is it with people like you and purity testing software? That’s fucking weird.

I’m fucking sick of turbonerds with toxic opinions and zero coding skills telling developers what they need to do with their own code. The fact that they can’t code is more or less irrelevant, but it highlights how much more bullshit their stance is. If you want to control a license then write some fucking code and you can license it however the hell you like.

We do agree in one key area though, “influencer” is a cult, or something very close to it. This whole parasocial relationship bullshit is actively harming society at large. You can thank YouTube for fucking these things up btw. Other services have followed, but it’s YouTube’s (Google’s) insatiable lust for power and monopoly that have crippled society and possibly irreversibly damaged it.

  • I have read the license. I read it when it first came out. Open source is open source. You don’t get to move the goal posts like the OSI has. You wanted the source to be available so that you could have a look at it and make sure nothing nefarious was going on or at least be able to tell what it does. You can, therefore be happy, and be quiet.

All of the stuff that I develop is the type of open source that you like, that said, you don’t need to try to browbeat developers into licensing terms that they don’t like. If they want to keep their source proprietary then that is fine as long as they make it available for others to have a look at.

Stop purity testing this crap. You do the entire movement a disservice by being a pedantic butthole. Furthermore you make people like me not want to make the source available to people like you. You damage the entire image, and you don’t even realize it.

The license isn’t the problem. You are.
