Europe@feddit.org•Confused by French politics? Our answers to the questions you are afraid to askEnglish
4·3 days agoA little recap for people around the world:
- assemblée national > senate (i’m not sure if it is the correct translation)
- Rassemblement National = RN = far-right
- Ensemble = centrists = Macron group
- Nouveau Front Populaire = NFP = left-wing “alliance” with communist, ecologist, socialist party,
I said :
left-wing has win with a narrow margin.
And do you know why the chart mention LR twice ?
- Les républicains (LR)
- Rassemblement national (LR + RN) => RN (LR+RN)
The LR were opposed to an alliance with the RN.
82 % des députés qui siégaient au sein du groupe LR jusqu’à la dissolution de l’Assemblée nationale se sont d’ores et déjà exprimés contre une alliance avec le RN.
Translation:
82% of the deputies who sat in the LR group until the dissolution of the National Assembly have already spoken out against an alliance with the RN.
Most of LR opposed to alliance with RN. It was a standalone decision from Eric Ciotti, old secretary of LR and he faced opposition. LR tried to remove him from secretary position several time.
And the chart showcase it well. Let’s recap:
- Les républicains (LR): opposed to an alliance with the RN
- Rassemblement national (LR + RN) => RN (LR+RN): LR that agreed with Ciotti decision of an alliance with the RN.
Here, NFP is a single group that include several left-wing group : socialist, ecologist, communist, france insoumise.
So the score should be : NFP 178> centrist 159 > RN 143
You are right, there is no clear winner but :
- In france, in you get 48,9% of vote and if i get 48,8%, you win the election. Unjust.
- If you dig how the legislative 2024 went…there is something interesting. The first round often ended with 3 groups : NFP, centrists, RN. In order to block RN, NFP and centrists did a deal. The group (centrist or NFP) who led the first round, stay and the other desist. 210 seats were desisted by left-group to centrist. And 89 seats were disputed with 3 groups.
⚠️ I may be wrong. I can’t find good data. ⚠️
Why centrists/LR didn’t desist ? If i recall well, it’s because of LFI candidate that were part of the NFP. So, It favored RN and divantaged NFP. (But i need data to confront what i said)
Futhermore, let’s talk about the republic process. Î recommend you listening to Dominique Villepin (french, you can try subtitle translation), he is part of right wing and he understand well what is at stake, even for Gaza. In the video, he explains that we need to do thing in a certain order :
- Select a prime minister from the NFP group. They will have a hard time because their governement won’t last.
- Then select a mixed governement from group that opposed to RN
Why it is important to achieve this in this order ? Because it will give to the president more opportunity and appease people. And, the president Macron alway refused to chose a left wing minister.
On my personal point of view, we should destroy president function and create a senate composed of people from various lifestyle. Not politicians. i want people : workers, dancers, waiters, deaf, blind, trans, woman, child, scientifics, cleaners, farmers, soldier, policeman…in the senate.
Currently they don’t represent us.
Edit : typo + rewording for better understanding.

13·4 days agoThey forgot some fact :
- Macron aways refused a left-wing prime minister. He refuse changing its politic and continue to destroy our public institution. Although left-wing was win with a narrow majority, the traditional process would be to accept the result and chose Lucie Castet as prime minister. Futhermore, it tooks him 2 months to choose a right prime minister. And he was exploiting grey area in the law to make its old ministers voting in the senate. Usualy, ministers cannot vote in the senate.
- Macron repeatly selected the same staff that share lot ideas with the far-right movement.
Lastly, Macron wanted the far-right movement to win the 2024 legislative. For me, the center doesn’t exist, they aren’t a middle ground between left and right. They are the architect of this chaos and accuse left-wing being a violent group…and many things. They should be tagged as far-center.
Thank a lot 🥰
If you have any ideas, feel free to purpose them :)

1·27 days agoFDroid is an alternative app store where its main focus is Free (libre) software. Free in the sense of freedom. They have also strong focus on tracking. Under app, you have “anti-feature” that tell you that part of its code is not opensource or that there is sensible data. :)
You should visit their website. ;)
Here is some info from their website :)

Fediverse@lemmy.world•A fediverse platform that lets you block whole topics, not just communities?English
6·28 days agoMmm not sure how it will be managed. It depends whom you trust.
On our jlai.lu chat (https://jlailu.zulipchat.com/) we have a section that has a list of keyword to remove all post related to MAGA and far right. It gives us a peace of mind and we can purpose our keywords.
Imho, you may suggest a git, put your blocklist and invit some people to edit it. Honnestly, i think it is safer to handle personnaly because you know what’s inside. But i may be wrong
How long have you had it?
1 year
Is it worth all the hassle and expenses?
Yes. It made communication easier.
However, i live in france where all those expense are covered by our “social security”. I wish USA stop thinking about cost/debt and try our medical system. It will be better for everyone.
I can listen to podcast without transcript and hear without reading lips for the first time in my life. It is still difficult but i’m improving steadily. :)
Does the garbling sounds ever disappear?
Dunno. I read that cochlear implant can reduce Tinnitus.
How comfortable are they?
Very comfortable. Clean up is easy, i wear them every day. The very first time, i couldn’t bear high pitched sound because i never heard them. My hearing world was limited to hearing aids capability and hearing aids don’t support high pitched sound. Slowly, as i grow accoustumed to the news sounds, they increased cochlear implant ability.
when the cochlear implant is activated, it will start at the lowest power. And every month they will increase until you reach 30db. It is a gradual process.
How differently do people look at you for wearing it?
I’m different. Deaf community reject people wearing cochlear implant. Often my deafness is invisible and i had to explain that i’m deaf.
So i decided to wear a beautiful white cochlear implant to show them that i’m deaf and i love hearing aid, cochlear implant and i don’t care about their opinion. 😁
Depending on our hearing background, our hearing experience will be different. You will find more accurate answer from people who share a similar profil to you.
As for myself. I’m profoundly deaf since my birth. I weared hearing aid since my 3 years old and decided to get an cochlear implant in my thirty years old.
I prefer starting by debunking misconception about the cochlear implant. :)
how the operation will go ?
It will be quick, the operation last 2h. You will fell nothing when you wake up. Over hours your ear will hurt lightly, it will last 1-2 weeks. You will have some vertigo for 1-2 weeks too.And one month later, they will activate the cochlear implant at its lowest power. They will increase ets power gradually.
Don’t play with rugby and Electromagnetism
The cochlear implant doesn’t like shocks : boxe, rugby…and anything that can interact with its magnet under your head’s skin : airport scanner, irm scanner…
You will stay deaf
Yes, you will hear better and it is better than hearing aids. You will hear more details. Hearing aids cannot produce high-pitched sound, only cochlear implant can achieve that.
It will improve your communication. But lot hearing people do the mistake thinking you can hear as everyone do. No, you are deaf. And wearing the cochlear implant will exhaust you, you won’t notice it.
So, use every possible meant of communication that can help you daily. It will lower your fatigue :
- text communication instead of phone
- speech to text (ava, lokas (framasoft, foss app))
- collaborative pad (etherpad, cryptpad)
- rogervoice
- writing
- alert light…
The cochlear implant doesn’t work immediately, there is 1-2 year of auditory rehabilitation
You won’t be able to hear sound speech the first time your cochlear implant is activated. There is 1 to 2 years of auditory rehabilitation.
It depends of people but usually, the first time, people will hear nothing or some cryptic sound. Let’s imagine you don’t know chinese. If you go in China, the first time their chinese will be mixed, you can’t distinguish a word. And over time, you will be able to notice the same word “niiao”, then later you will see the word “Nihao”.
There is 1 to 2 years of auditory rehabilitation. You will have to wait 1 month to distinguish the speaking sound. And around the 3-6 months you will start hearing words, or sentence. It depends of people. Maybe it will be faster, slower…your brain will do everything, its amazing.
You will never hear as hearing people do, tfe sound is different
-
The sound will be different, it sounds metalic. However, you can hear birds, small noises, high pitched sound. Your communication will be easier. Maybe the picture won’t have the accurate color, the same blue than most people, but no pixels will be missing and the color will be still blue.
-
In loud environnement, it will be hard to discuss with people. The cochlear implant can’t filter sound as an ear does but there are option to reduce ambient noise and improve communication in loud environnement.
-
Hearing with a cochlear implant or hearing aid will exhaust you. Not a lot but when you will remove it, you may enjoy those silent moments. You will be not aware of your fatigue.
Oh thank you @[email protected] :3
