  • I have 2 computers connected to an USB switch (not a port replicator but one that let switch the host of your USB switch) and the dock attached to this USB switch. This allows me to quickly switch all of my desk devices (multiple monitors, webcam, microphone, gigabit network, etc…) with one click. Also both computer just require 2 cables for everything: USB and power cord. It took some time to put it all together but it is now my definitive battle station.

Unfortunately the dock does not work well with Linux and I am not able to find a non displaylink dock that enables me to achieve all of this. It is just a driver problem, but still…

  • I know many will not like what I am going to say but still …

The Bible mentioned scientific facts long before they were discovered. For example, around 3,000 years ago, Job 26:7 said that God “hangs the earth on nothing,” describing the earth suspended in space—centuries before scientists understood this. Over 2,700 years ago, Isaiah 40:22 said that God “sits above the circle of the earth,” indicating its round shape, long before it was widely accepted.

Later, in the mid-19th century (around 1851–1852), the physicist Lord Kelvin (William Thomson) helped formulate the Second Law of Thermodynamics. As part of his theological reflections, he cited Psalm 111:2—“Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them”—to affirm that scientific inquiry only deepens reverence for a Creator.

There are few other similar examples like these in the Bible.

  • You can remap IMAP source folder to destination folder. It’s very likely that sent folder needs to be remapped between different hosts. I suggest you to use the dry-run option and examine the log to see if the folders are correctly mapped.

More in detail, I created an user just to run imapsync as a good practice in Linux. Then downloaded imapsync in a subfolder of the user home directory, created two very simple scripts, one with the imapsync command with all the parameters I needed and one for the token. Lastly, using crontab -e, I added two entry one for each script.

You don’t need to put imapsync into etc, it is not a binary and, as far as I know, there is no package that you can install with a package manager, it’s just a script that you download and execute. Anyway, where you put that, its up to you.

  • Imapsync is a (PERL?) script you download, and then run it passing parameters.

If you need OAuth, and it seems so since you want to sync a Google account, you have to download some more files that help you obtain an access token for Gmail.

But as far as I remember, there are no config files needed to run it. Infact I am cron running it every 5 minutes to one way sync an IMAP account to Office365 (needs an OAuth token too, and a second script to refresh the token every hour)

Feel free to ask for more, but I cannot guarantee a timely response.
