memes@lemmy.world•I'm just trying to come to terms with my trauma, can the world, I don't know, improve with me or something instead of getting worse?
0·6 months agoThe world’s healing progresses much more slowly than the individual’s. We have hundreds of years of colonialism and ecological devastation to heal from and that shit won’t happen overnight. You are part of the world and your healing makes the world better. Focus on what you can do and do that. Trying to take responsibility for the whole mess will destroy you, it’s out of your hands.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•US question: Would you approve of your state seceding from the Union, declaring independence from the United States? I think California, Oregon, and Washington would, and probably Colorado too.
51·6 months agoNo. We’d be overrun by federal troops and decimated within a week. If we could secede peacefully? We (Wisconsin) would probably need an alliance with Minnesota and Michigan to survive.

It’s the people’s house. We built it. It’s been stolen and you let them. Who’s the anarchist?
My perspective is that you fight on ALL fronts and you don’t leave power on the table for fascists to grab just because it doesn’t fit in with your revolution fantasy narrative to do so. I never said nor implied that voting is enough. It isn’t. But it is a simple way to keep dangerous people away from power.
Participating in democracy doesn’t lead to fascism, capitalism does. Protest non-voters are idiots that gave away the one best power our system offers. Congratulations on your new fascist overlords, dummies. Anarchism is about power to the people and power to communities, you vote for the best thing for your community regardless of your personal feelings. Do I wish there was a better candidate than Kamala Harris? Hell yeah I do, but she is lightyears better than Trump for my people so she got my vote. You have to start where you are, not in some fantasy land where leftists have a viable alternative. You want change? Go find a milquetoast liberal running uncontested and primary against them. Ask hard questions and make them accountable. Sitting on your high horse while the world burns is not only useless, but an insult to the people who are actually suffering because of your choices. Fuck off.

politics @lemmy.world•New York moves to shutter Tesla dealerships in blow to Musk
72·8 months agoAgree, but right now we have bigger fish to fry. We are in chemotherapy mode to save democracy, anything that hurts Tesla is good for now. We can debate the pros and cons of the dealership business model if we survive.
Hey thanks for the input, this helps!
One of big hurdles with therapy is finding a therapist that won’t gaslight me with capitalist propaganda when I express political or career angst. Being well adjusted to an insane system is not the goal I’m looking for.
The voter turnout was very low, Trump’s active supporters are more like a third of the country, which is still too much, but not insurmountable. And many of those were just one issue voting dummies. I think Trump’s hardcore base is closer to 20%.

9·8 months agoI assume you mean piracy, but I think you misunderstood. I have no desire to give JKRs works any of my attention and I regret my past love of HP. She is a disgusting bigot and her legacy is forever tainted for me. I’m simply not interested.

No one is looking to incite a civil war, even if many people on both sides fantasize about it. War is grueling and terrible and we are still too comfortable to risk it. BUT. I think preparing ourselves for the eventuality is wise. Really the best move we could make would be a general strike. It’d be a bloodless deathblow to this stupid stupid situation.
