4·9 months agoYou are absolutely right and you took me in speed, because I had planed - starting from June - to donate every month about €50 to different opensource projects I’m using. So maybe 5x€10 or 10x€5, I’m not sure yet. It will not be a big financial effort for me, because I just cancelled a US based subscription for that same amount/month.
DUMP AirBnB right away. They are kissing Trumps ass all the way. The CEO is very… very proud to be part of DOGE. Fuck them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Angry, disappointed users react to Bluesky's upcoming blue check mark verification systemEnglish
59·9 months agoBluesky is the new X. After canceling the accounts of Turkish protesters this is the next step for the big money behind Bluesky. That’s why I deleted my account a few days ago.
I’m still in the fase of exploration. When using Windows, you just have 1 choice. I just want to discover what suits me best. So nothing against Linux Mint. It’s great, but maybe OpenSuse is better for me? I don’t know.
THANK YOU ALL for your replies. I’ll do a clean install and made a backup of my files (was not difficult bc most stuff I have in the cloud). I’m moving indeed from Mint to OpenSuse Tumbleweed. I don’t know exactely why, but it seems to me an interesting thing to do. Still figuring out what distro fits me best.
If we want to achieve adoption by the “main stream” consumer market we have to make sure that the Linux distro is absolutely idiot-proof. In the mind of many people, Linux is for IT-nerds and it’s difficult to change a way of thinking. You’ll have to prove it with: 1. Reliability (f.e. support of the EU); 2. Influencers who say that Linux is OK; 3. A Linux distro that is effectively proving that it can work idiot proof. Otherwise Linux is dead on arrival to become mainstream.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla odometer uses “predictive algorithms” to void warranty, lawsuit claimsEnglish
77·9 months agoIn the past, Tesla lawyers even initiated lawsuits against customers who dared to criticize the quality of their cars or services. Such cases are documented and therefore not fake news. Last week, moreover, DOGE dismantled the department responsible for safety control and approval of new cars entering the market. Tesla experienced too many problems with this department in the past and now, through DOGE, took the opportunity to simply dismantle it. Moral of the story… buy a Tesla, a “safe” decision.

Buy European@feddit.uk•Some Swiss companies are already using the Europe label.
12·9 months agoThe title is misleading. “Some Swiss companies are using the Europe label.” Yes, Switzerland is part of Europe, but not part of the EU. But… you’re welcome to join the EU as a full member.

Buy European@feddit.uk•Some Swiss companies are already using the Europe label.
63·9 months agoIt’s hypocrit. They don’t want to be in the EU because they are “so called neutral”, but now the suddenly are using the EU logo because it suits them. Don’t get me wrong: I would like to have SUI into the EU, but then they have to go for the full package and not illegaly clame they are EU, while the’re not.
That’s OK. You don’t have to say something about my post. I just wanted to inform you all that on Lemmy there are also haters, keyboard warriors or people that are so depressed that they can’t see anything positive in a post, a question or a reply.
Well @Leraje, that’s exactely what has happend to me. I asked a simple question in another community and get bashed by some people just like you would expect on some other social. Then I said: “I’m out of here” and I unsubscribed and blocked the community. Just to say that there are dipheads here too.

Buy European@feddit.uk•UK passes emergency law to save British Steel

How are things going in the UK right now?
That’s what big tech companies do, they buy small and promissing companies they think that once can become a competitor and then… destroy it. The young startups just take the money and can retire early.

Buy European@feddit.uk•German state gov. ditching Windows for Linux, 30K workers migrating
1·9 months agoIMO there should come an European law that forces computer manufactuers to offer customers the option between Windows or Linux. This is a way to make Linux more mainstream, but still leaving the final decission to the customer.

That’s indeed also very important 👍😍
