Considering the Dems don’t control the House, Senate, or White House, the only power they do have currently is promising future prosecution if they take back one of the branches of government. The Republican-led congress and White House are obviously not going to do anything.
Nashville was carved up, in order to dilute the democratic voters in the city. It was split between three different congressional districts.
The democrats were gerrymandered out of the safe Dem seat that the Nashville area should have.

While most of us here would have loved to see Aftyn win, forcing the Rs to heavily fight for a R +22 district is crazy. Both the Speaker and the President did campaigning for a random, deep-red seat, gerrymandered to be a safe Republican district. That’s saying a lot.
This also tracks similarly to the special elections in FL earlier, where while the Democratic candidates didn’t win, they over-performed by roughly the same margin (13 - 15 points).
That’s what I was thinking - they don’t have a majority in the House (currently). And even if they did manage to drag some Rs with them on the vote, he wouldn’t be convicted in the Senate, as there’s nowhere close to the 2/3rds vote needed to remove him from his post.

We had exactly 60 seats for all of like two effective weeks in 2009, due to various issues. And not only that, a good portion of the dems in that coalition were blue dogs - senators from IA, ND, IN, and MO.

The TX legislature is a part time job and gets paid hardly anything. Most reps have normal, regular jobs, not to mention a spouse, children, and all that stuff.

DC is a federal district, so he actually has some legal footing here, unfortunately.
He doesn’t have this ability in any other city.
CA is already moving forward with theirs. IL will probably be able to get one or two more seats (it’s already heavily gerrymandered). NY will likely do so as well, but can’t change the maps in time for the 2026 midterms Maryland is also similarly gerrymandered like IL - maybe one more seat there.
