Did I read that correctly? What are they skipping, the Commodore 64?
This is a mystery you don’t want to solve.

Aren’t they obligated to see to his medical needs so long as he is being detained?
As in, maybe he’s smiling because (ironically) the medical care he was being denied by insurance companies while not incarcerated now has to be provided for by the state?

As others have commented, the article is a little misleading. Especially to those not familiar with NixOS:
These changes have been made available through packages in the nixpkgs repo, branched to the 25.11 release.
However, NixOS doesn’t “stack” GNOME into it. Nor does it carry specific Linux kernels “under the hood”.
You can pin any version of any release of any listed package (including kernels) from the nixpkgs repo to your configuration. More specifically even with Flakes, but that’s not even required, if that isn’t your thing.
So for example, I am running a specific host with NixOS 25.11, and Linux kernel 6.17.58 (LTS). (There is a specific use case for me to do so on that particular host.) This runs out of the box due to how I’ve configured NixOS, which is precisely the point of Nix, you configure it how you want it.

Warframe.
Before they streamlined the prologue section the game had very little clarification in terms of setting and context.
Kept trying and putting it down a few times because a friend insisted it got better.
Then once I made it through the prologue it started to click and I’ve put in close to 10k hours since. Been playing for more than 10 years now.
I play it in bursts. Maybe 3 months a year. Keeps it fresh every time I play it.

I completely agree that there would be (much less) conflict and controversy if everyone was more clear in conveying what they mean to say, and more open to facts regardless of “feelings” about facts.
However, keep in mind most neurological people typically filter out a lot of what they perceive and even think. As such neurodiverse people are (far) more prone to overstimulation. Not just in physical sensory stimulation, but also mental capacity. (We think too much.)
If any demographic is, as neurotypicals are, less likely or capable of picking up on every granular bit of detail, isn’t it merely logical they would as a result be more closed of to rational arguments? Wouldn’t it also be entirely logical that such rationale and factual discourse is quite literally in their “blind spot”?
Then, as one such individual loses control of any situation, for instance by having an (objectively) superior rational thinker accross from them in conversation, they will resort to any means to regain “control” of said conversation. Usually resulting in emotional displays of frustration and anger.
I have struggled with “emotional” thinkers my entire life. It isn’t easy by any means. However, having come to accept that neurotypical people are incapable of a rational mindset like I have, has led me to at least accept the situation. I am no longer frustrated when they reject rational arguments, I even expect them to. As such I also “divest” from any attempt at “educating” them. It will cost me energy to do so, and only lead to conflict with the person not willing to accept rational arguments.
It may seem bleak, however it is a practical coping mechanism to not burn out by every conversation you may have on a daily basis.
I then reserve such energy for situations where people might be truly interested. And as an added benefit, I am heard more often when I do choose to speak up, since I am no longer labeled as the “know-it-all”.
Just my take on it. Hope it helps🤷♂️

Much appreciated 🙏🏻

You had them in your hands.
Yes, I’ve actually gone looking for my meds when I had them in my hands.
You stopped at “mount stupid”. Here’s the rest:

On a comical note, a liquid’s ability to hold onto a solid surface can be considered “wet”.
There has been considerable scientific and philosophical debate on whether “water is wet”, or if “liquids make solids wet on contact”.
There, learned yet a other thing today!
(Yes. The news content has unfortunately become trite. I understood the sarcasm!)

For the life of me I cannot fathom why that crowd doesn’t just switch to an Apple ecosystem when leaving Windows. The entire design philosophy is intended to cater to non-tech savvy people, and to keep them that way. Not saying every Apple user is non-tech savvy, but it is built to be stupid simple to use for anyone.
This YouTuber’s “I can install Linux but abandon it because I can’t figure out why it won’t boot anymore” mentality shows his own limitations.
Buy an Apple if you want to leave Windows, but have no interest in becoming proficient enough to use Linux as a main driver.

For anyone wondering what Microsoft actually said about Windows 10 being the last version: https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-may-be-last-version-windows-microsoft-rethinks-operating-system
And no, they didn’t it’d be the last Windows. They said it’d be the last traditional release before moving on to “Windows as a Service”.

Mildly interesting indeed!
It’d be even more interesting if an interface like this would estimate the carbon emissions per scheduled trip for these ships.
Surely one could estimate the impact based off of the ship class and distance.
Come to think of it, that’d also be interesting for a flight radar kind of website.
I hadn’t heard of a “self hostable Steam-like platform” before; after reading the above post I became very excited… until I read it doesn’t support a Linux client and isn’t FOSS.
Thank you for sharing this alternative! Configuring it for my homelab environment right now.

In Gilead they called it “Fish & Loaves”:

You only ever had two funny things happen to you?
My goodness how do you stay sane?
(It honestly took me a few seconds to realize you were not being literal. I hope.)
Oh it certainly wasn’t the first I have ever used.
Debian, Ubuntu, Kali, and more.
This is just the first one that has made me ‘want to make the shift’, so to speak.
I specialize professionally in hyper automation of all sorts of things. Long time user of PowerShell, custom built C++/C#/Java backend services. More recently also utilizing Python and Rust.
The declarative nature of NixOS (incl. Flakes, idempotent ❤️) is what I love about it. Although I am well aware it can be quite daunting for those that prefer imperative scripting, or even ClickOps.
Nix (and more specifically, NixOS) made me switch to Linux as my daily driver.
I had been using Windows since 3.11 as my daily driver, MS DOS before that. This was for web browsing, gaming, and development. Linux was my sandbox on the side, and mostly server OS throughout the years.
Goes to show how powerful packagemanagers can be, it made me make the full switch after ~30 years. I love how my OS is now idempotent/declarative.

I have no idea what the actual reason is, I am just responding to the German language aspect.
In Dutch the word “niks” means nothing.
If Mr. Dolstra used a “nothing” reference, wouldn’t it make more sense that the Dutch person referenced the Dutch word “niks”, which is pronounced exactly the same way as Nix?
As far as conjecture goes this is far more plausible than a Dutch guy picking a German word “nichts” that resembles the pronunciation of the word/name Nix.
And for some reason Hollywood has engrained on society the notion that the Dutch natively speak German. Some of them learn it, but it is not their native language.
Are you, are you
