  • Exactly, we need a pipeline, an infrastructure, an ecosystem, that gets our basic ideas out to essentially the whole population, and then draws people in to engage more deeply, one tiny step at a time, until a few become a cadre of real theory nerds, and then actual thought-leaders and contemporary theorists. (And note that the theory nerds and theorists are not necessarily “the vanguard” but can/do overlap.) It’s up to us to find the best way to reach different audiences who are at different levels. And as a movement we’re not nearly good enough at this but we are gradually improving. I think the original video is basically correct, but arguing against a bit of a strawman, we’ve mostly moved beyond that point at least.

  • Feels like they’re not even trying to convince anyone, just provide a script to for friendly media to spoon-feed their most credulous and most cynical supporters.

I guess if they have a short, tidy little war then people will just kinda move on and forget about this, so it sort of works in that case. But if anything happens to cause sustained attention, this kinda bullshit will completely fall apart and wreck the credibility of everyone involved. And I feel like it’s already reaching that attention threshold just because Trump can’t resist making everything into a spectacle.

  • Contrarian take: if the deep state/intelligence/whoever finally decides that Trump is more trouble than he’s worth, this would be a good way to get rid of him. If the files were just leaked randomly, sure, not much would come of it, like so many other leaks. But as an organized limited hangout, with a lot of media support, they could selectively bring down Trump and a few other inconvenient people this way, and then consider the issue resolved. I mean if the whole point was blackmail, presumably they’ve had contingency plans along those lines for a long time.

Just one possibility, but feasible I think.
