Agreed, it was good back in 2017. For me the effect wore off after a few months when the gimmick boiled down to “Wow the brand is being so savage 😂😂”

To be fair, dating was very different in 2015.
Yup, this is happening to me. A whopping 70% (not exaggerating) of houses in my hometown have turned into AirBNB’s in the last 10 years!
What about self hosting? I can run a local GenAI on my gaming PC with relative ease. This isn’t consuming mass amounts of power.

61·3 months agoI’ve been using snus for 2 years now, it does help but if I run out, I go straight back to other nicotine consumption methods. Currently trying to tone down my dosages. I’ve weened down from 12mg pouches to 6mg while maintaining the same amount of daily intake (~4 pouches/day). Beats smoking cigarettes that’s for sure.

4·3 months agoIt can sometimes work. It’s something I taught myself naturally when I was pretty young that if I verbally monologed what I was doing it would help me get it done. Unfortunately due to the daily variance of my work it can be pretty easy to get stumped on a few tickets which can snowball into a full day of doing fuck-all.

25·3 months agoAgreed, MS’s aggressive market capture is horrible to work with. Sucks that it’s the consumer standard AND the industry standard. So much bullshit to sift through when configuring the computers for a work environment.
Anyways, just a heads up for future installs; you can bypass the sign-in screen during the Windows install and create a local account. It’s annoying to do, convoluted by design. But still not nearly as annoying as signing in to a Microsoft account.
Edit: additionally if you are going to use Windows, I would suggest one of the LTSC builds, removes most of the bloat and gets at least 10 years of support.

19·3 months agoIt really does lol. In my helpdesk queue I have some tickets from over a month ago, sometimes I need to reach god-like focus to finally break down the steps / mentally process their request and respond to them haha.

2·3 months agoNo, and I never stated that. I just think it’s stupid to group all of crypto as an environmentally unsustainable technology. Following your logic, switching to electric cars isn’t worth it because the 100 years of petroleum pollution won’t disappear.

29·3 months agoYou’re so right, environmental impact has not been assessed by any cryptocurrency ever made. Literally zilch. None. Nada.

16·6 months ago“been around tech their whole life” more like they have a locked down phone, locked down game console and MAYBE a desktop computer. It’s too rounded out and consumer friendly now, you never have to peek under the hood.

So random that the USA is lagging behind in this regard, travelled Europe - everyone using phone pay, and in Australia my home country, it’s pretty much the only way people pay nowadays.
