I’m a dorky inflatable latex coyote! Linux nerd, baker, some 3D things as I learn. Also love latex. The material, not the typography thing.

  • It’d have to literally be a full CPU that somehow has only read access to the RAM such that it’d be a genuine feat of engineering. Either that or the whole thing is just a virtualized device, but the cooling demands for either method would exceed the threshold for passive cooling in those enclosures and require fans at that point.

Bloomberg wrote an article several years ago that was absolutely slaughtered for making up from bad sources such a chip concept except even more unbelievable because they claimed it was hidden inside the PCB itself and only like 6 or 8 pins? Absolutely absurd for anyone who understands electrical engineering or microcontrollers at all.

  • I am utterly exhausted by the “pancakes vs waffles tweet”-style responses like this. The person you replied to didn’t mention Harris nor even Biden, they talked about a trend in changes they’re wishing the media was better about highlighting, because it and politicians will talk a lot more about elsewhere-issues than here. Ceasing support for Israel is fast and easy, so it becomes, now the they’re finally paying attention, an easy score for “pick me” points, because outright stating in non-hyperbolic language that we’ve got a literal dictator brewing with systems of fascism merging together and coming up with solutions is a lot more complicated than rejecting one PAC donor.

At this point I’m treating these comments as MAGA psyops trying to tear up the left, because no one actually gives a shit about Harris except Republicans in their talking points. Even the Dem politicians shut up about her.

  • If you just want to use other repos, maybe a scheduled script is better than writing a full extension. Since most extensions are only on GitHub still you’d run into the rate limits without the API key pretty quickly unless you only poll once a day and only have a couple from it.

But sounds like basically HACS Lite would be the kind of thing you’d want otherwise. Rather than scratch I’d say just fork HACS since there’s already a framework there and alter it to remove that centralized repo checking and maybe add a config option for poll frequencies. You end up with something polished that’ll likely fit other folks needs and if you just call it “Lite” you might get interest from them even in it being an alternative version.

  • That’s kinda cool! Most don’t do that.

As far as differences Alec at Technology Connections has a solid video pointing it out better. It’s more about the ratios involved between fan, element size, and volume of area to cook within. The result is basically the ratio skewed absurdly in the favor of air friers over ovens, plus putting out less total heat. So stronger fan is part of the equation at least!
