Privacy@lemmy.ml•The "Nothing to hide" argument is (still) a logical fallacy
5·19 hours agoOkay, how about we rephrase “Nothing to hide” and change it to “Everything to show”. Doesn’t sound good, does it?
As an aside. this stupid, tired argument is old enough to be of drinking age. Let. It. Die.
Are they gone?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What youtuber do you think had the biggest downfall?
5·4 days agoOof, watching The Completionist’s fall was an emotional rollercoaster. I liked the guy well enough and he seemed to be doing well right up until that unfortunate G4TV reboot.
Attached to the new G4TV was one Frosk, an e-sports commentator who was opinionated as all hell and boy, she would NOT let you forget it. Long story short, apropos of nothing, she had a spectacular meltdown on the channel and she did so by blaming fans for all kinds of things. The Completionist, along with all other members of the channel took a hit in subscribers on G$ and their respective channels simply through the virtue of being affiliated with Frosk. Not really their fault.
But THEN in 2023 it came to light that he was lying about donations to charity and really, that’s when I stopped following him completely. Kind of hard to defend that.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Yes, i started playing the Autism funny game. 1 Week in, 16 hours only
2·4 days agoI haven’t touched them in a while, but I enjoyed Big Pharma and Shapez.
Oh, hell no, we’re not doing Revenge dirty like that. It may not have been as successful as 3, but rear-ending cars to send them careening into whatever was in front of them was just so satisfying. It kinda felt like playing highway pool.
FP3 user here. I use LineageOS. It may not be as hardened as Graphene or Calyx, but it gets the job done and it still gets updates.

11·8 days agoI did not expect to get such an in-depth response, holy shit. Thank you! Saving your comment for when I get around to giving Factorio another whirl.
It is, I’m just kidding around. Your question was innocent enough, it’s just that the comments look like a battlefield.

2·8 days agoI dunno. I feel like diverting resources to defense systems, necessary as they are, makes the factory less efficient than anything, but that’s just me.

12·8 days agoAutomation games are usually my jam, but I bounced off Factorio pretty quickly. The automation part I got really into. I wanted to keep things as efficient as possible, but then I kept being interrupted by fauna attacks and I kinda hated the disruption. It didn’t help that various defense systems like turrets and the like needed their own supply chain for ammo, so I had to drop everything, start working on that, monsters started attacking my base on another location, rinse, repeat. You get the idea.
I am aware you can turn off the attacking fauna, but that feels like turning off an integral part of the game, so I dunno.
My brother is currently way, WAY into it, though, so I might give it another shake in the future.

Vegan@lemmy.ml•Why the EU’s ‘Veggie Burger Ban’ Vote Should Alarm Everyone, Not Just Vegans
3·9 days agoIf you’ve been following the debate, you’ve probably seen countless discussions about whether this makes sense — arguments about “consumer confusion,” “tradition,” and “clarity.”
Thank god for that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered a Veggie Burger and when I took a bite… vegetables! I can’t keep all these facts straight, man!
Or are you just observing and enjoy your peace of mind because you switched already to Linux before?
Yes, that. As far as my circle of friends and acquaintances who are running Win10 are concerned, I’ve made the effort to advise them to switch to something newer for security reasons. They will probably switch to Windows 11, but that is their concern.
