  • Nice! VR was one of the increasingly few things I kept Windows around for, but when am update screwed my drivers I gave it try on Linux again. Initially it didn’t look promising but a couple of tweaks and going with SteamVR Beta - as even with the Index it didn’t like regular SteamVR - I had things working just as good as in Windows for any of the games I’ve tried.

I’ll have to try things out with wireless and the Quest 2 that’s been sitting on my shelf, and maybe see what the compatibility is looking like for the newer devices (or wait and see if the hinted “Frame” is the next Gen)

  • No. Though if it were somebody who was sexually assaulted after repeatedly praising and promoting rapists I’d probably similarly acknowledge the irony.

This guy reaped what he showed, and despite the initial attempts but right-wing issues to make it a battle cry to blame and attack the left even more … it looks like it came from somebody even nuttier than him in camp “go go fascism”. Had it been somebody else in his circle of crazy who took the hit, I’ve little doubt that a Kirk would have been part of the “we need even more guns to fight the left” crew before they even identified the attacker.

While I am not going to recommend bullets to heads (or necks) as a good idea for solving these issues, I’m certainly not going to cry about this particular neck intersecting said bit of ammunition nor fail to note the irony in that given his platform.

  • Which is fine for their store. But one of the things that used to make Android a more free ecosystem was that you could load apps from 3rd-party sites or stores, including stuff like F-Droid. Some of these apps do things that Google in particular won’t like - i.e. circumventing ads/analytics - so having them control who gets signing keys is not good

The obvious exception to this is cases of addiction or poor life decisions.

Like if you collect/play Pokemon or whatever as a hobby and are excited to get a rare card, that’s great and I’m happy for you.

If you’re underwater on your mortgage and your basement is full of beanie-babies - that you’re sure will make you rich in the future - but you just won a bid of $1000 for one rare beanie on eBay… yeah I’m not gonna be happy for you I’m gonna recommend talking to a professional

  • I’m thinking that #7 might be useful in certain policing or security positions, depending on the definition of empty (there’s always dust and air).

Got a bunch of containers that need to be inspected? You can cross the ones you can see through off the list.

Also useful for winning the cup-and-ball game
