Ooh, definitely will try to make snake
ok that’s really cool

big laptop requires big keyb
Ice Cubes is what I used to use before I switched to Android. It’s super customisable and looks nice too
When I got into self-hosting, I was recommended Yunohost. I’m sure it’s great, but I couldn’t get it to boot, so I ended up using Debian. (which is what Yubohost is running under the hood I believe)
I remember someone telling me that CasaOS is very simple and could also be a good option, but I have no experience with trying to install it or using it.
Most of the self-hosting tutorials I found used either Debian or Ubuntu (a derivative of Debian), so using Debian or one of its derivatives could make it easier to figure out how to set up everything.

Apple, Samsung, all the Chinese phone brands with their proprietary fast charging standards, HP, Bambu Lab, Nintendo, Xbox, Microsoft, Google, Adobe, etc. etc.
There’s a lot of terrible companies, actually.

several can mean 2-5 years, right? Or are you one of those people who insist on a distinction between couple, few, many, and several?

driving bleach? I assume you mean drinking (which for obvious reasons is not a good idea). Also, what the heck is a horse de-wormer?

it’s bambu connect, right? that’s what the thing is called?

One thing is for sure, their “security” that is Bambu Connect was compromised almost immediately after it was released (not very secure, is it?)

Bambus do print great, but Sovol, Qidi, Prusa, etc. also seem to print great while not doing any of the Apple/HP-esque anti-consumer practices.

As some others have said, you could use a VPN like Tailscale to connect to your local network remotely. Alternatively, you could simply not deal with all the faff and only use your services locally, which is what I do with Nextcloud and Immich. Syncs when I get home but doesn’t when I’m not, and I can always use Tailscale to remotely access my server if there are any issues.

The cool thing about SyncThing is that it’s peer to peer, meaning you don’t need a central server for your files to sync. They can go between your laptop and phone, for example.
Something like Funkwhale does need a server, and to talk to that server outside your local network, you need a domain name.

As an owner of a Bambu A1, I would not recommend any of Bambu’s printers. They print great, but they have been locking down their ecosystem for no good reason (at least, no good for us consumers). They are blocking both third-party software and hardware (stuff like the Panda Touch display) for “security reasons”, and you have to enable a special Developer Mode to continue using third-party slicers.
I have my printer stuck on v4.0.0.0 with LAN only mode, using Tailscale to remotely access, as I prefer using OrcaSlicer. They are really pushing to be the Apple of 3D printers by locking down their printers and restricting you to their software ecosystem. They already have tags to identify first-party filament, what’s stopping them from blocking non-Bambu filament like HP and 2D printer ink?
I would recommend any other brand over Bambu, I know the Ender V3 is a popular option. Sovol and Qidi both have good value options too. Prusa if you have more budget, lots of people love their printers. Haven’t used any of the other brands though, so I have no idea about how well they perform.
Personally I use Joplin as it’s super customizable and I like sorting my notes in “notebook”. I am syncing my notes with Nextcloud, but you can also use anything that’s WebDAV, OneDrive (ew), or anything that uses S3 (like Backblaze)

lemmy.world -> An instance of “Lemmy”: it’s like if Reddit could be hosted by anyone in the world rather that one big server, and all these mini-servers can talk to each other! Also, Lemmy is part of the greater “Fediverse” (kind of like if Instagram users could see posts from Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. The Fediverse is a collection of different platforms like Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, Frendica, PeerTube, etc.). lemmy.world in particular is one of the larger instances of Lemmy.
lemmy.world is used like Reddit, you can create posts in “communities” (subreddit equivalent) and comment on them. There are thousands of communities on all sorts of topics (discussion, sciences, movies, games, asking questions, various hobbies, etc.)! You are also able to upvote and downvote (but there’s no “algorithm” like on something like Reddit). That’s the main gist of it, I think.
Perchance, after a quick search, is an AI image generator, so I don’t think it has much of a connection with any of Lemmy’s instances. I will say that competitions usually give you extra entries if you subscribe to their social media and such on the various platforms, so that’s probably why you had to make an account on lemmy.
Fair enough
Yeah, surface area!

My phone is not a pixel (so no grapheneos). Shelter could be useful for apps like Whatsapp, right?
