  • Average Americans honestly don’t realize that many nations and people outside of the US suffer “misery and oppression” directly as a result of capitalism imperialism. They either literally don’t know (miseducation, no education) and/or don’t value other lives equally (racism, western chauvinism). Identifying the obvious contradiction in this '“just and moral capitalism” is what leads people to socialism and other beliefs. Given proper education and basic morals, it’s impossible to support capitalism.

It’s just semantics but I think you’re likely more dealing with antisocial people. I think a misanthrope in a more authentic sense has a distaste for humankind as a whole rather than just generally being socially malapted or resenting other people for existing in their vicinity. Most stereotypical annoying antisocial American males tend to fail to have a deeper misanthropic ideology and are just stunted and bitter.

  • I could be wrong but I highly doubt the study is actually capable of measuring literally death penalty vs life in prison as two punishments and whether the life in prison option leads to much more corruption than the death option–both are probably big deterrents if literally instituted as such.

It could also be argued that the death of certain individuals could potentially cause social unrest, dissent, or some type of martyrdom in a negative socialist direction, vs. life in prison ensuring that does not happen. Therefore possibly being the more reasonable stance.

I don’t consider this an overly important point personally nor do I give a shit about some corrupt billionaire getting got.

  • I understand your point and frustration but the impasse we are at here I believe is that the avg hexbear user would claim liberal democracy will ALWAYS trend in this direction. The system is what it does. Sure, I think it’s good to elect strong socialist-adjacent progressives in your local areas to improve the life of working class people, but (someone correct me I’m mistaken) the philosophical position here is that the end result of the system is always fascism and capitalist dictatorship. It will always trend to this conclusion.
