“It came out of nowhere”
Seriously, how can it be legal to put camouflage patterns on cars?

Thousand-dollar white-trash hauler

I was never a fan of Linus tech tips. He always seemed like a weird guy. I did watch that video where he totally fucked his Linux installation by being really dumb. The package manager warned him that he was about to destroy his system and made him type something like “Yes, I know what I’m doing”. He then reacted like, “why would Linux do this to me!? It’s so hard!”
Either a paid shill or an absolute moron.
Having kids is stupid. The world doesn’t need more people. Stop it.

Is it even possible for Linux to get enshitified? Wouldn’t the open source community just go back and fork from before the enshitification began? Surely, enshitified versions could be made but people would simply not use them unless there was some proprietary component they wanted.

Its definitely a cannon.

Bill and Ted were a parody of 90s SoCal culture. Nobody was that ridiculous unironically.

Dickes’s work pants are always like this, horribly inconsistent. But they were cheap and they last forever so you just have to grab a pile of the same size, try them all on and buy the ones that fit. Good luck ordering online…

My guess is that it’s about how many of us are complicit in our horrific criminal justice system. Casual things, like people laughing at the suggestion of prison rape being retribution rather than recoiling in horror at the suggestion.
There was a homeless guy sleeping in the parking area of my apartments and everyone I mentioned it to suggested that I call the cops. I went and asked the guy if he was alright. We said a total of like 10 words but he was just some 30ish year old dude looking for a little temporary shelter. Do you really need to call the cops to fuck his shit up even more?
I’m not trying to make light of the exceptional challenges you face and the opportunities and luck I had but I didn’t have it particularly easy.
In my childhood, I’d generally get new shoes when the old ones had holes in the bottom. After high school, I worked painting restaurants and refinishing furniture while I went to community college, then got a pell grant and a student loan to go to state university. I took the bus or rode a $500 street legal dirt bike with a cracked frame to work after I graduated. I was living in a small 3 bedroom house with 4 other roommates at the time (one of whom lived in the garage). I needed a few more university courses to get into a professional training program for my career. It took me a couple more years to complete those pre-reqs and each of those classes cost me about $1000, which was nearly all the money I could save up each year. Eventually, I got through the training program, obtained a professional license and was able to get a job which would, after about another 10 years of work and promotions, eventually become rather high paying.
As you all have guessed, I’m over 40.
I agree with you if you suggest that the system is rigged in favor of the rich and connected or that everything is fucked for people just entering the job market. But also, it’s on you to figure it out.
Life pro tip: fight lifestyle inflation/creep. Use all the shampoo. Be conscious of waste. Don’t take it to “frugal jerk” levels but just keep in mind that you have to earn every dollar you spend.
At some point, you’ll probably be making more money. People tend to choose to take this opportunity to also spend more money. Keep this to a minimum. Do you want to retire in your 40s or in your 80s?
Da bomb squad

Thanks. I hate it.
I think part of the answer is transient bottlenecks and a backward propagation of the traffic waves they create. They’re caused when a large number of cars merge onto the freeway at an onramp, slowing down the right two lanes; when some jerk cuts someone off, causing a momentary slowdown; when there’s something interesting on the side of the road that people decelerate slightly to look at. Of course, actual bottlenecks obviously cause a backup as well.

It’s weird that people care about this. Let other people enjoy their food prepared whatever way they like it.
I presume that many people who cook their stakes well done came out of Europe during the mad cow disease concerns or grew up in other places where there were health concerns around undercooked meat.

Land of the free. Home of the brave.

Big Google and big government want your data. I hope Linux phones get good enough for daily use soon.

This weekend, I gave my girlfriend’s dad a nice computer with Linux mint installed. I put a shortcut to windows 11 setup to run in virtualbox, in case there were things that he felt he needed windows for (to spare him the frustration of needing to tinker too much if he didn’t want to).
Down with Microsoft spyware.

The class 1,2,3 system is only confusing if you’re a moron. Santa Barbara has the right idea, identifying a problem with “high powered ebikes” which are sold with >750 watt motors, which makes them too high powered to legally be ebikes. These are in moped or electric motorcycle territory.
Doing a little napkin math here, that’s about a half an ounce of heroin mixed into 385 gallons of water.
That seems more like the 55 gallon drums had previously been filled with heroin, but were drained and refilled with water, and just a little residue was leftover.
