He got off worse than Reagan, which is saying something. He got “punished” about as harshly as any person who doesn’t have their entire head up their ass would expect a president of the US to be, which is barely.

With the amount of people saying Trump’s doctored the files, just position yourself as much an enemy of Trump as you can. Then you can declare yourself framed if anything incriminating appears, using your brazen demands to release the files as evidence.
Essentially turning the matter of your innocence into a partisan issue means you guarantee the support of a good portion of libs, and gives your friends in high places a good excuse to let you off.
