Wild how people react when
- the nazi symbol tattooed on chest was revealed
- people see you defending military doing terrible things in the middle east
- defending military having nazi symbol tattoos
- claim to be progressive but still want to send more money to military industrial complex
The only way I’d accept Platner’s Nazi tattoo is if he came out full force condemning the culture of fascism/nazism that is rampant throughout the US military. If he recognized and called out the various Nazi groups within the military, as a veteran, there might be a worthwhile discussion to be had. But he doesn’t. He’s still proud of his “service”. If he is truly repentant and has changed his ways, he needs to kill the America (and the idea of the American armed forces) that exists purely within his mind. He wasn’t in Iraq and Afghanistan “protecting our freedoms”, he was murdering brown people for cash and furthering the imperialist cause
if he is truly repentant then he needs to go to Iraq and turn himself in to face justice for his crimes
the idea that the people who benefited from a crime can dole out forgiveness for it is absurd
And there is my western chauvinism showing. Absolutely, he should face justice for his crimes first and foremost as all members of the American and allied forces should
