I am requesting this comm to discuss the theory and practice of anti-zionism in depth, including analysis of the latest published theory and works of prominent thinkers in the movement.

  • Why not /c/palestine?
    • I don’t want this comm to become another /c/news dedicated to Palestine.
    • I want to discuss anti-zionism not just as it relates to Palestine. Zionism is global and supported by global organizations, our analysis should be equally comprehensive.

After discussion on this post, I think I will try to create a reading list / reading group for relevant theory in an existing comm for now, in order to avoid bringing us further from God’s intent (everything being posted in /c/main).

However, it’s a tricky line, and I think the real issue would be if people start trying to really push to the edges of acceptability.

There have been cases on this website where people are accused of having liberal zionist bias (for good reason and with good evidence) and have reacted by getting upset that someone could accuse them of being a zionist, because they oppose “Israel”. I would want to be careful about applying this rule, because people can (unintentionally) internalize a lot of zionist ideology even if they’re not zionists themselves and I wouldn’t want there to be a rule for people to deploy to protect themselves from criticism of that.

That’s totally fair. I think that making it about the text can help manage this a bit too, but yeah - it’s a very tricky line, and the goal here should be for all of us to educate ourselves.
