I paid mine off last year, and what a huge relief it has been. Not financially, whatever tax concessions I was getting income-wise to pay it off ended, and my day-to-day expenses have not changed.
But just mentally, not having this parasitic thing leeching out any joy I had whenever I got my paycheck.
They need to ban the predatory behaviour that led to this being normalised, and they should just cancel the existing debts. I’m sorry, but if they can throw 7 trillion in tax-payer money at banks, then in essence the loans have already been paid.
Money is kind of fake at that level. It’s just an excuse. It’s all excuses.
The actual mechanisms are scarcity and power. Money will not change those.
