  • a single conviction I hold requires me to leave: That the existence of antisemitism means it is ok for a state run by zionists to steal land and use violent oppression against the people already living there. I am unable to imagine Jewish people living and forming communities anywhere else peacefully. I don’t agree with the way Israel was formed or how it has operated since its violent formation, but the peaceful solution is to… continue operating a state that “defends” itself through unnecessary violence

Smh. Not only is this the wrong community, but this is just a terrible take. You should reflect on yourself and remove your brainworms.

  • I think when people who struggle with depression and other mental health issues get into arguments online, it can feel like everyone hates us or are specifically being mean for no reason. But when you step back, you realize you talked to maybe 4 people. And that this thread and argument didn’t have anything to do with why you were so upset and getting emotional, you were just stressed about something else. And not in the best head space to be talking about these type of discussions. I can only guess that you have been struggling. That sucks. This thread is probably not the best place for you right now and that is ok.

My two cents about this conflict:

Israel was created by stealing land and forcibly removing people who were already living there. Israel should not have been created that way. If some european countries felt bad after WW2, they should have donated some of their own land so Jewish people could create some communities there while still mingling with everyone else in a peaceful manner like a melting pot. The hurt begins there and gets worse since Israel insisted on expanding by doing more violence. The founders and leaders over the years were ok with using violence this way.

You wanting a safe place for Jewish people to exist is ok, but conflating that with needing Israel to exist is the problem you seem to be facing. You can say genocide is bad and people need to be prosecuted, but even if Israel stopped, it would need to return the occupied and stolen land. Israel does not represent all Jewish people. Israel is not the answer, it cannot even sustain itself. Israel doesn’t even think your views are ok, it would label you an antisemite because it does not think it has done anything wrong and is just “defending” itself.

I know you mentioned you consider yourself liberal, we view things from a more leftist perspective. It’s ok to ask questions and learn and reflect on ourselves. And also ok to take a break, a breather, and do some self-care.

  • I haven’t seen the movie in ages, but I thought the theory was that he had to bring the artifact (jet engine) back from the tangent universe to the primary universe since he was the living receiver to prevent the universe from collapsing unto itself. Someone else did the same thing and lived and wrote a book about it, but was haunted and traumatized by the experience. Donnie decides to die via jet engine since his death will prevent his family from dieing as well as the girl he likes (and Frank I guess) because burning the pedo’s house causes the domino effect. Also doesn’t the pedo kill himself at the very end? Anyone close to the receiver will feel the aftereffects of the tangent universe, which I assume are similar to what Donnie felt (nightmares, hallucinations, etc.).

  • Alright I am going to give you advice then so this doesn’t go wildly off topic. You can ask questions, but don’t make assertive statements if you do not know about the subject and are still learning. Don’t assume people will like you for being a centrist, especially in the context of the US which does not have a leftist major party (thus you are sitting more towards right wing by being a centrist). When it comes to things like charlie kirk, you need a tougher backbone, don’t be afraid to tell people your opinion while still keeping things in context (don’t tell people not to be happy about someone’s death when that person contributed to the suffering of many people which most likely includes the person you are talking to). But if it is about something more complex involving a long history like Palestine, you need to research yourself and listen to others trying to help you. Not everyone wants to hold an internet stranger’s hand through this stuff. For instance, I do not want to explain the entire history of Palestine to you.

Also, please attach screenshots of your modlogs. Both your hexbear and current account since those are the accounts you are complaining about hexbear banning you over.

  • That’s the only one I know that runs on linux well, but it is not popular in most of the games I mod. I would not be able to make huge Skyrim modlists on it. I could string some valheim mods on it, but that’s about it so far. I stayed on windows for so long because I needed not just the games to run, but the mods I spend a lot of time on tinkering as well. I even tried other things like pushing a payload to a Nintendo switch recently and ended up just going back to my windows install where it detected RCM right away (but the linux tools I tried didn’t).

  • the modding scene on linux and how much busywork that took, that just killed a little bit of my soul.

Care to expand on that, I’m not too used to modding games, but from the times I tried it, it’s my understanding that 99% of the times it’s just putting stuff into the right folder. If not how is it different from Windows?

Alright so modding is actually harder on linux and stupid. You should use a mod manager and not manually install your mods so you can uninstall them easier, resolve conflicts easier, manage them, etc. But the mod managers don’t all work on linux natively. So you end up trying to get steam tinker launch working (to use vortex or mo2, but the creator hates modding and will let you know) or using other random things on github (like jackify). I spent way too much time trying to get this stuff to launch and that is before you start actually modding. I ended up doing some distro hopping to get the mod managers to work and ended up on CachyOs.

  • I was actually going to say I hated how misogynistic teachers were at school when it came to any dress code. They hyper focused on what girls were wearing, were their straps too narrow, were their shorts/skirts too high, etc. I have had teachers harass me about my clothes during my entire schooling starting from elementary school. We are drilled into us that our bodies are too revealing, scandalous, and dirty, so we should be ashamed. But then you become an adult and no one really gives a fuck what you wear. The only place that cares is where you end up working, and that can really be anything ranging from a fast food uniform to a suit to whatever you want to wear, etc. I’m not sure what your age is, but schools have made girls feel responsible for how other boys and men feel about their clothes since before social media. It’s our fault for being a “distraction” and ruining the learning environment. I had a male teacher fixate on me at one point, he said he turned his a/c on 24/7 to force all the girls to cover up but when I wouldn’t since I liked the a/c then it became his mission to stop lessons to tell me to cover up aka put a jacket on and make a big deal if I did not have one that day. Your comment reminded me of that teacher, and how much I was slut-shamed because my tank tops revealed my shoulders - gasp!

  • You’ve probably got enough helpful responses from this, but I’ll throw in my two cents here. I am used to modding Skyrim on Windows, I last modded a few years ago and was ok at it. I usually manually made modlists with MO2 but have also used wabbajack. Recently I’ve been gaming on Pop!Os and was able to get steam, steam tinker launcher (STL), and vortex to play nicely on a different game (non-bethesda). Vortex only worked with hardlinks using STL, I had to reread that readme like 5 times to realize this checkbox on vortex was vital (by default it was on symlinks). I could not get the flatpak versions of these apps to play nicely. I was able to download from nexusmods on librewolf and it would open in vortex, something a lot of people seemed to have trouble with, but for me, It Just Works. Nexus premium is also good to have. I don’t know how hard it is to get MO2 (seems STL also supports it) or wabbajack working on linux, but if I ever find out, I’ll let you know.
