2·4 days agoI suspect what will actually happen is this bill will go nowhere. If it starts to go somewhere, business interests will step in and squash it because of the many, many, many problems it would cause.

7·5 days agoThat in itself introduces numerous security problems, still incredibly stupid and all this surveillance data makes for a hacker goldmine. Not like governments have a great IT security track record.

2·5 days agoI would definitely consider a car/micromobility package like this. Currently just stick my Priority Folder in the back of my Subaru but eventually I’ll have to replace things.

5·5 days agoVPNs are needed for way more than people working from home. It’s hard to understate how spectacularly stupid banning VPNs would be in terms of business alone, never mind all the other problems it would cause.

172·5 days agoBanning VPNs would be an unmitigated disaster and anyone who suggests that it’s a good idea has absolutely no idea what they’re talking about and should never be allowed to make tech policy again because they are a massive idiot.
Businesses, institutions, and even the government itself all require the use of VPNs to remain secure. VPNs are vital to functioning IT infrastructure everywhere.
Additionally, such a move wouldn’t even stop people from accessing porn (which isn’t even what VPNs are for), all it would really do is break IT security everywhere.

2·9 days agoI still use my rear rag bags but more for stuff like repair kit, spare tube, poncho, etc. Most of the stuff I’m actively using is attached to or in the front rack.

3·9 days agoI used to keep my dog in a shopping basket with a floor and safety harness built in. Had it fixed to my cargo rack, but then he grew up and no longer fits.
I’ve been thinking about using a wider one, but I’m a little worried he’d jump off. On the other hand, I saw this bike touring guy (Dave) do it with his dog (Mira) and it seemed to work ok.
Trailers are definitely more viable though, and far more affordable.

2·12 days agoI almost picked up a Dahon Mariner but ended up getting a Priority Folder on sale instead because of the belt drive and IGH: Less maintenance and no derailleur to catch on anything. I’ve heard Dahons are pretty good folding bikes though.

Not when you’re turning: It actually makes it harder because you can’t lean into the turns. Sidecars are even trickier!
I don’t have a motorized trike, but I do have a reverse trike and it cannot corner nearly as fast as any of my 2 wheeled options.
