    Next elections would still be

    One side - 306 (49.7% vote)

    Other side - 232 (48.6% vote)

and you can do nothing to change this. I can bet on this

Haven’t you heard? The Orange Utan and his fat tramp friend Bannon have already announced that they’ll deploy the SS ICE at polling stations. As if nobody saw that one coming even before Trump inexplicably won the vote in 2024…

Boomers have overstayed their welcome. The spoiled generation took the greatest wealth ever seen, became spoiled by it, sqandered it, and left X, Millennials, Zoomers, and Alpha holding the bag (climate change, broken empire, insurmountable debt, political instability, unstable social safety net, etc.). They will not be missed.

Oh that’s nice: for once a young person is pissing on the boomers without lumping us gen-Xers with them.

Cuz more and more now, I’m being told that I’m a scumbag, the scourge of society and that we all had it easy-peasy in the 80s. Because of course we did: obviously we’re the cause of everything that’s wrong in the world today, and our evil boomer parents even more so!

Oh well, inter-generational hate will always exist. You will know it too when you get older my young friend…

He did absolutely nothing to punish the wealthy/powerful behind January 6th, he did nothing with the pedophile ring and just peaced out and gave the keys to fucking Nazis.

I’ve got plenty of criticism of Obama too, but he’s easily the best US president of the 21st century, and it’s not even close. And although nowhere near as good, Biden is still easily #2, because at least he didn’t start two trillion dollar wars for nothing. And although he’s pretty bad, Bush is still easily #3, because for all his many, many faults, at least he didn’t usher in a full-blown fascist dictatorship driven by narcissism and stupidity.

There’s no easier century to rank presidents.

Yeah, at least he reacted to a financial crisis by giving money to people instead of corporations. Not enough money, but it was still going to mostly the right places. When the banks gambled with our money and caused a financial crisis Obama could’ve done the same thing and allocated housing money to people, which would “trickle up” to the banks. Instead he bailed them out with no strings attached so they could continue fucking everyone over.

A lot of the time, poll results are based on how the poll is asked. If the questionaire was like: 1 trump worse than biden

2 external factor affected the situation

      3 i like cheese

You can see how this is going to affect the final result. There’s a whole science behind how to get the desired result from a poll without just faking the attendees

I don’t really see a point in that comparison - These two people are evil on its own, there is no point in playing games on who is less evil in this regard. Also it is misinformation to be saying trump is worse than him, as you’re forgetting about the genocide that he did - trump isn’t yet at that point.

It is also important to bring in the fact that trump wasnt just a pedo, but a sex offender. Him being both doesn’t make him worse than hitler.

Under no other president did I fear for the lives of so many Americans.

At work, we used to talk about dumb shit. Who brought M&Ms or cupcakes. How some random movie ended.

Now, some of my coworkers are terrified. We had a incident where some masked goons rushed up on a random woman and when we all came out, they ran away.

Our manager openly said, “None of them are allowed in the building.” And during the worse of it, my manager brought a shotgun.

Average office workers are arming themselves.

Anyone talking about action against ICE agents has lost the plot. ICE is the symptom, not the disease. You don’t treat tuberculosis by targeting the coughing with Robitussin. You treat tuberculosis by targeting the bacteria with antibiotics. Address the cause of the problem, not the effect.

The person you need to be registering your complaint with is your local oligarch. Any action you want to take toward ICE, redirect it to the richest person within driving distance.

Makes sense that they’re targeting less gun-prone areas, but still, there’s gotta be some percentage of carry-ers outside of NY no?

I agree with (Edit:the commenter)Aussie though; I’ll post the full quote here so maybe even one more person sees it and internalizes it. Link to the Holocaust Encyclopedia

Sure ok, but my explanation as to why people aren’t shooting at ICE agents remains the same.

The “they came for” quote is emotive, but a great many people are indeed “speaking out”, and taking action in non-violent ways.

Quite obviously, people aren’t shooting at ICE because they don’t want to get shot.

The truth is there would be more incidents of people fighting back if all the people here actually stood by what they say.

Notice how there isn’t. Talk is cheap and this place proves it.

The truth is- youre exactly right. People don’t stupidly sacrifice themselves knowing there is no popular pushback. And at this moment there is not that popular notion that things need to be overturned.

An ideological position like democracy, freedom and liberty? This is why the US is where it is. Those things don’t come from nothing. They come from people willing to fight for them.

The second amendment people are absolutely on the side of Trump. They are more likely to shoot people who try to stop ICE than anything else.

We have more guns in the US than every single US citizen and we have lost more lives to gun violence than every war we have ever fought combined.

Guns don’t solve our problems. It truly takes an idiot to believe they do.

Under no other president did I fear for the lives of so many Americans.

I mean, were you around during the Cuban missile crisis?

Trump’s a total piece of shit, but I do think there’s some serious recency bias.

The Drug War under Reagan, the War on Terror under Bush, numerous tense years during the height of the Cold War - Stalin getting the H-bomb, Egypt closing the Suez, MacArthur getting forced out of North Korea, the Tet Offensive and subsequent protests, epidemics from AIDS to Polio…

Things have been bad in the US on and off for a while.

I’d be willing to bet quite a lot of money, maybe my mortgage, that the majority of Lemmy users, in fact, weren’t around during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

They made an observation of their own experiences, that’s not a statement anyone can disagree with.

Nah but Biden also didn’t make sure to choose an AG to actually put the motherfuckers in the Epstein files behind bars, either. It’s not like the Epstein information magically appeared when Trump became President, he literally ran in 2024 on the fact that Democrats hadn’t released the files. This information was available when Biden was President. Epstein was (very likely) murdered while Trump was President the first time.

So, fuck Biden anyway, he was focusing on all this “decorum” shit when it comes to a fucking network of pedophiles and rampant corruption and oops didn’t want to make it “lOoK PoLiTiCaL” to go after criminality. Now the same people they didn’t want to look political prosecuting don’t give one single fuck about looking political in prosecuting their perceived enemies.

Fuck, Biden was literally handed a free pass when the Supreme Court ruled that when a President does it, it’s not a illegal. He could have done any number of things to prevent this with the backing of a Supreme Court decision that was tailored to support Trump but technically applied to any President.

Democrats may not be in the files, but they sat on their fucking asses writing strongly worded letters and throwing up their hands going “but it’s too hard to make sure they go down! Gears of justice turn slowly, so slowly that Trump can be voted back into office even with all this hanging over him!”

It’s a crock of shit, Democrats are culpable for not taking this fight to the mat and instead being wishy washy limp dicks who handed over the reigns of the government to corruption twice in a row.

It’s not even his appointment of Garland, though, who is equally guilty. Trump could have been Biden’s Al Copone, who Hoover made his personal mission to take down. It’s ultimately the leader’s job to protect their citizens, and he was apparently too lazy.

I honestly don’t even care if our president accidentally shits themselves. I mean, it happens.

What I do care about is if our president has such a fragile ego that they’ll lie and punish other people because they shit their pants. The kind of person who will accuse everyone else of shitting their pants, but only because that person’s own pants are constantly weighed down by dookies. The kind of person who can’t forgive themselves for a little brown downtown, so they steal and extort an entire country, just so that they can extort other countries and become friends with other people who love lying about their bowel movements.

I honestly don’t even care if our president accidentally shits themselves.

And the problem with that, is that other people do. And if you don’t pick a candidate that is acceptable to a broad enough coalition to win the election: you don’t win the election.

Its not a matter of what you’ll accept out of a candidate; its a matter of what the electorate will accept as a candidate. And while you might be accepting of pants-shitter to make some of the most impactful decisions that will affect almost every person on the planet, the American people wont. You being willing to accept less makes you irrelevant; you aren’t a vote we need to work to get. Which is fine. Its your vote. Do what you will. You don’t need to have standards.

But, by putting the bar so low and accepting a pants-shitter, you sabotage our collective ability to actually get that person into office. It should be obvious to you now, that not enough other people wanted to elect a pants-shitter. And as a cohort, the Biden apologists, by insisting that everyone else lower their standards to that of a geriatric who was barely present, these people are saboteurs who kneecapped our ability to stop Trump.

And since you have such low standards, I expect that you should be willing to accept that your view doesn’t matter and shouldn’t be weighted as highly as people who need something more, like a specific set of policies or a certain level of competency. We don’t need to work for your vote: you’ll vote for a pants-shitter. This is great because it lets us narrow down the field to candidates for people who do have some standards, for example, that they don’t want to vote for someone who is an advocate for genocide them as a people. Or who want police reform. Or any number of other issues. Literally any ones opinion should be weighted more highly, since, like you said, you’ll basically vote for anyone, even a barely walking, senile geriatric, who shits their pants on stage.

That’s some impressively aggressive ableist language dripping throughout your comment. I assume your words come from anger and not thinking about perspectives other than the one that upsets you the most. Lots of people shit their pants, it wasn’t something that our last two presidents invented.

Behold, a president who needed significant assistance, because he’d otherwise have shit his pants. And possessed the kind of personality I mentioned where he wouldn’t have made pointing out other people’s poopie pants his entire identity:

Okay, but it’s not like these are people with lifelong conditions and injuries that cause a disability. They’re just so god damn old they have allegedly lost bowel control.

That certainly happens to many with age, but if you are old enough to have lost bowel control from age alone I’m going to question if that advanced age has not effected their mental capacity.

Our leaders need to be mentally competent. Suffering physical symptoms of advanced age makes it seem like they are/were not able to handle the very demanding job of running the country

      DEPORT CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

If they could stick with that, then it’d be a good*-sounding* idea – who doesn’t want to deport criminals who immigrated from somewhere else to be violent?

Sadly they’re as incompetent as they are violent, and they can’t even deliver on that since they don’t even know the how of due process; or the why. It’s a “best I can do is gestapo” kind of situation. And for that, they need a Nuremberg. And lots of rope.

That’s actually how it is supposed to work. Police arrest criminals. If they turn out to be undocumented then ICE is called. Now frame that question in a way that asks if they support what ICE is actually doing, which is harassing people based on ethnicity, yanking random people off the street, holding people in deplorable concentration camps, kicking in doors based on memos they call warrants, beating and gassing protestors, and murdering legal observers.

The word “criminal” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I would expect local law enforcement to arrest criminals. I would then expect them to be deported. It doesn’t mean people want local police to help ICE with their terrorist bullshit.

The January Harvard CAPS / Harris poll survey was conducted online within the United States on January 28-29, 2026, among 2,000 registered voters by The Harris Poll and HarrisX.

That’s the only bit on methodology I saw in there, which isn’t much at all.
